It’s early, and there’s still plenty of football left to be played, but what types of players in the transfer portal should we look to acquire to maximize Nico’s talents heading into next season? Offensive line needs help big time. But man do we need wide outs. With inevitable roster turnover, we need to focus on bolstering the wide receiver corps with players who can create separation and make game-changing plays. The lack of consistent downfield threats is a glaring issue, and it limits Nico’s potential as an elite QB.

Yes I know Nico also needs to be more accurate. But it’s two fold.

Example, if Ryan Williams is available we should absolutely go all-in to get him. He’s the type of dynamic playmaker who could instantly transform the offense. Imagine him and Mike Matthews as an 1-2 combo. Also, targeting experienced portal receivers—look for guys from smaller programs with breakout seasons or underused talents from bigger schools ready to shine.

We also can’t overlook other needs, but getting explosive, reliable receivers is paramount to unlocking Nico’s full arsenal. But then again this may mean nothing if we don’t adjust some of our coaching staff too.

I agree with needing at least one break away WR threat but I’m sorry there have been more than enough deep balls at least and over the middle routes where the ball wasn’t there but the receiver had more than enough separation to make the play.

Very fair statement. All the transfer portal stuff is for naught if Nico doesn’t improve. I heard someone say Joe Milton was better than Nico and I can’t argue that except for Joe was in college for 10 years so he had wayyy more experience. We can’t forget Nico has had some very impressive moments and if he can develop pocket presence then lookout!

This year I would have rather had Lagway.
