Vols Guaranteed a Spot?

I asked this question in another thread, but wanted to get some more insight. I was trying to see if there was a way we still got left out of the playoffs. It seems like no, but I’m not an expert. Here are the scenarios I see (this is assuming we beat Vandy):

1) Texas beats A&M
—knocks out A&M
—leaves us 3rd in the SEC and top 10 in CFP
—even if they take both TX and GA, we’re in the playoffs

2) A&M beats Texas
—getting beat by the #15 team (lower now after Auburn loss) would drop Texas below us in the CFP rankings
—if GA wins, A&M would most likely be out even though they participated in the SEC champ game due to 4 losses; this would leave GA, Vols, and Texas in
—if A&M won, the committee would still prob put GA in even with 3 losses because they’re GA and they at least played in the championship game and they’d put A&M in as a conf. champ; we would still get in b/c we’re ahead of Texas

Does this sound right? Please let me know your thoughts. I’m just hoping that if we take care of business in Nashville, there’s not a way the committee can screw us. GB🍊

You really are over-complicating it.

If we beat Vandy, we're in.

If we somehow lose to Vandy, we're out.

Nothing more to it than that. The only real variable to consider, assuming we beat Vandy on Saturday, is whether enough chaos happens in the current Top 10 these next two weekends to move us up into the home field advantage seeds (#5 through #8). Right now, we would be just below that at about #9.

Yep. I think if we stomp Vandy maybe that factors into the seeding a bit. Hard to know since it seems the committee just makes up crap as they go.

That’s where I was leaning. I think not knowing if they’re going to put in 3 or 4 SEC teams and how they would handle a 3-4 loss SEC champ. game loser had me a bit unsure.

Nailed it. We win we are in. Lose and we are out. Beyond that it’s a crap shoot as far as seeding goes right now.

It’s alot more simpler than this! Beat Vandy and we are in.

Don't forget we still have 2 more weeks of butt cheek clenching games with Rivalry Week and Conference Championship games.

Miami losing to Syracuse
Clemson losing to SCAR
B12/ACC runner up probably having 4 losses.
Good chance Mich finds a way to take a dump on OSU
GT gets a shot against UGA
Iron bowl/Egg bowl
USC sucks but they usually give Notre Douse fits
Oregon/Washington
aTm/Texas
KState/Iowa State
Arky/Mizzou
SMU/Cal
just to name a few

How would the acc runner up have four losses? Afaik they both have 1 rn,.with one to go. Of they both won next week, I suspect the loser is getting into the dance also at bamas expense

That's a tear of joy I see in my eye
