Team Talent Evaluation from 24/7

Interesting seeing where Tennessee rates based on roster & recruiting rankings. Maybe our coaches can develop players after all.
I always like to look at these but certain positions are far more important than others and if you don’t have a good leader at QB who is also pretty talented, the team will underperform. And overall team chemistry can make a team play at a higher level than the sum of their parts. I look at the players we had when JG was QB (And Butch coaching) - we squandered a lot of talent.

3-1 against rosters with more talent than us is excellent. Obviously, that means we’re 6-1 against lesser talent. I bet that’s fairly normal.

Recruiting rankings are great for players you've never seen play. Once guys get on campus and start playing they mean little. For example, our best player Dylan Sampson was just a 3-star. I wouldn't trade him for any RB on Alabama or Georgia.

If they re-rated players the way they do transfers then these rankings might mean something. Right now all they give you is an approximation of how talented a team is. They're not gospel.

It’s kinda crazy how every coach we have had for 15 years has had a team with talent in the mid teens, and not one has consistently coached his team to mid teen finishes. Finally we have one who does better than that rather than worse.
