USA Today has us up one and hosting OSU.......I think this makes the most sense assuming the conference games go as expected. Even though UGA struggled on Friday, they own H2H.​

I would love for us to get Indiana at home and Ohio state play at Georgia.

If Clemson beats SMU things will get real murky…

Does SMU stay in the playoff with a close loss in the championship?

Clemson winning the ACC certainly improves South Carolina strength of schedule. They then have to be considered.

What if UGA losses? Do you penalize them for making it to Atlanta? They’ll be 10-3.
But what about Bama who beat UGA. They’re 9-3 and they beat South Carolina too…who’s again 9-3 and beat ACC Champion Clemson.

Does Miami and SMU stay in the playoffs?

1) Oregon
2) Texas
3) Boise
4) Clemson
5) Norte Dame
6) Penn State
7) Tennessee
8) Indiana
9) SMU
10) Georgia
11) Ohio State or Miami, or South Carolina, or Bama
12) Arizona State

I am just not convinced OSU falls below us. They are currently sitting at # 2 in the CFP rankings, and one of their losses was to the undefeated # 1 ranked team by a single point on the road. That is about as good of a loss as you can have. I think we may end up playing in Columbus. Best case imo is we get matched up with Indiana.

We match up better with Ohio State.

We want Ohio State.

I “think” regardless of what happens in the conference title games we’re looking at a 7,8, or 9 seed. 8 or 9 is the highest probability and I think we’re going to be the 9 with us playing Ohio state.

I agree........only thing that scares me about Indiana is the weather. I just watched Indiana post 60 points at will in a freaking snow storm (granted it was Purdue........but still)

I’m fine with Ohio State too. It would be an awesome atmosphere in Columbus, especially if we go in there and beat them. They are coming off a really tough loss, so it will be interesting to see how they respond to that.

I think we would likely be at home if we played Indiana; I don’t see them jumping us with them not being in their conference championship game.

I think so too. It all just depends on whether we jump Ohio State or not. We will move ahead of Miami in the CFP rankings but that doesn’t mean anything because the Clemson/SMU winner and Boise State will get seeded higher than us. How would we end up in 7th? The only thing I can think of is if we jump Ohio State and Georgia if they lose to TX, but I don’t think they would drop UGA below us for losing the conference championship, especially when they beat us head to head. I think the committee will try their best to not punish teams very much for losing conference championship games.

Way we end up getting a home game is:
1)Ohio State ranks lower than us
2)Conference title games we see a blow out that moves Georgia, Texas, or Penn State below us

I “think” that’s about it as far as possibilities. We’ll know the answer to #1 on Tuesday.

Ohio State should drop below us. We need Penn State to lose to Oregon, they'll fall below us. I believe the loser of Texas/Georgia will also fall below us, especially if it's Georgia.

Ohio State will face the additional aspect of multiple players likely to be suspended for round 1 after the massive brawl. Stewart Mandel already speculated this would happen.

Or if Boise state loses that puts big 12 winner in top 4 and knocks Boise out, well nevermind the next highest champion would be 12 not sure who that would be

Historically, losing the conference title game costs you about 5 spots.

Doubt Clemson or SMU is seeded or ranked above us if Clemson wins. The winner would be an automatic qualifier but not necessarily one of the top four ranked conference champs.
