With their latest projections they have Ohio State ranked 6 and us at 7. That would have them as the last team hosting and us going on the road to Columbus.

Their reasoning is that Ohio State has 2 “statement” wins- Penn State and Indiana while we only have 1.

I’m happy with going to whip them at their place- just wild how ESPN is trying to justify the masses towards them.

(I realize a lot can and will change- but they dropped 6 spots with their first loss last year. Now losing at home to a .500 team they think they should only drop 4)

For comparison, here are recent instances where teams lost on the road and where they fell the following week:

TN lost at Georgia - from #7 to #11
IU lost at OSU - from #5 to #10
Miami lost at GaTech - from #4 to #9

These were all road losses and the teams dropped 4-5 spots. TN and IU had road losses to ranked teams. OSU team favored by 3 TDs lost to unranked Michigan at home… the committee should absolutely drop them at least 6-7 spots… but they won’t.

Here’s to hoping the committee leader from the team up north gets in one last punch in the postgame fight ..

espn/abc The SEC's exclusive network. I don't think they are as biased as before, but they do own the playoffs, so.....

The teams seeded five through eight are hosting, but given the nature of byes you’re going to have two conference champions ranked outside of the top eight that push other teams down.

We need Oregon to destroy Penn State and Texas to blow up Georgia if we want a chance at hosting unless OSU somehow falls behind us.

I don't like playing them at their house because they just got beat and everyone is on the hot seat including the coach. I'd rather see them get taken out by some other team.

I saw YouTube video of an ESPN show from last night that had UT hosting tOSU in 1st round. They were also debating between UCSe and Bama as last team in. They did predict UT to beat tOSU then lose to Oregon.

Wouldn't that be Oregon destroy Penn State OR TX to blow up Georgia? We'd only need to move up 1 spot to host, right?

You can argue these scenarios a hundred different ways...OSU lost to the #1 by a point, we lost to Arkansas.

I really hope we get to host a game, but as you move from the top down you start splitting hairs. Bama was our big win, they lost to Vandy and then lost to Oklahoma by 3 TDs.

OSU lost at home to one of the worst Michigan teams in several years...like I say it's like splitting hairs.

We're going to get screwed regardless. Last week they had us playing Georgia in Athens. This week, they'll have us playing Ohio State and the only question is whether it's home or away.

Silly that Penn State (and Miami before their loss) is above us. Penn State has only played 2 teams worth a damn all season, both at home, and they went 1-1 against them. Our win against Bama at home is more impressive than anything on PSU's resume. Honestly, our road wins against Oklahoma and Vanderbilt are probably more impressive than Penn State's best win (vs Illinois at home).

FPI has us at #7 and Penn State at #9.

Hopefully if PSU loses to Oregon, they fall below us, but I see no reason they should be above us now.

You just also wonder, for example, if Oregon beats PSU handlily if they drop below us...I could see it. I don't see OSU dropping below us, but that's just me. Ultimately, this is the entertainment industry, and good for TV ratings if Neyland gets a home game.

Ohio state has beaten 2 playoff teams and we have beaten none. I could see them being ahead of us.

They'll probably try to say our loss at Arkansas is the same as Ohio State's loss to Michigan at home but it isn't. Playing on the road is so much tougher than playing at home. I think winning at Vandy this year like we did, especially after that horrible start, is a statement win. Texas barely escaped by 3 and Bama didn't escape. We dominated that game after they jumped on us 14-0. I know the committee won't see it this way but that win at Vandy is every bit as good as a home win against IU. If IU played Vandy's schedule they might not have 6 losses but I bet they'd have 5.

Of course Penn State and Indiana haven't beaten anyone worth a crap. What I love is this year they will get the chance to prove they belong. It'll depend on matchups but it wouldn't shock me to see both lose in round 1.

They won’t.
With that said...we should’ve taken care of business in Fayetteville.

The “committee” will not even look at the vandee win, they will only weigh the 2 losses.
