Figured we could have a thread to discuss all things portal, then as it becomes confirmed we have genuine interest in a particular player, etc, then we can seperate that into their own thread. But this hopefully will prevent a lot of uneccessary bumping of old threads in the Recruiting Forum, as well as making threads for every tom dick and harry that enters the portal despite us not pursuing.

Noteworthy guys to enter so far:

Micah Hudson, Texas Tech Red Raiders, Wide Receiver

I think we'll go after a receiver or two, but I imagine it'll be older guys. I do know Pople tried to get Hudson to visit here during his recruitment but don't think he ever visited.

On the one hand, I feel like we'd be fools not to kick the tires here. On the other hand, I really like Braylon Staley and don't want to see him head out. Should note that KC's younger brother recently committed to Kansas State so he might be headed there to play together.

We'll be going after OL. Doubt it'll be him as he hasn't been able to get on the field at Louisville. But I remember we were in on his initial recruitment so you never know.

There are rumors a number of Kensucky kids will be entering the portal, inclduing Barion Brown and Willie Rodriguez. Will be interesting to see how many we kick the tires on since we're in on some of the same recruitments.

What seems to be lost on some is that the portal is a 2 way street. We can have some of our kids head elsewhere, too. Are we willing to part with some of our current WR's and committed kids should we go after guys like Brown and Concepcion? Gonna say it again....we need one helluva OL haul way more than another WR. I'd also like a couple more studly DL, too.

Someone posted that Thornton “owns two more seasons of eligibility” is this true or am I missing something??

Do we need a transfer WR if he can come back??

Thornton. Squirrel, Brazzell, Nimrod, Matthews as the main 5 guys.

I think he had 2 when he came to UT and is now almost finished his second

The Senior Bowl guy was tweeting about Thornton on Saturday. He was at the Vandy game. Said he’s one of the most underrated kids going to the senior bowl, or something like that.

Give me Brazzell, Mathews, Squirrell and Staley as the top 4 next year.

dl is fine, maybe get a body, depending on who's out there. Need a safety. And likely 3 OL, a WR, and a Rush End.

Think we need one more. Just not sold on Brazzel as a WR1 answer and Matthews and Staley are still basically unknown. This offense needs a game wrecker type receiver

Choice #1 if he enters the portal. We came runner up a couple cycles ago.

Had 1000 yards last season. 1st team freshman all American

I never see or hear Leacock mentioned at WR. I think he had an injury at one point early on, but didn’t know if his lack of snaps was injury related or if he had just been passed up since this is his second year.

Take all the explosive athletes you can on the defensive side of the ball, especially LB.

Need a couple OL, a slot WR and a RB if one of the current guys leave.

We don’t have a ton of proven playmakers at WR. I get not wanting to run guys off, and I hope they stay, but considering we lose Bru and Thornton this year, I fully expect the staff to pursue a difference maker at WR in the portal.

Honestly, it’s probably wise to target a WR every year. OL is obviously the most important, but I do think WR is a position that can elevate the offense if you get someone dynamic, a true #1. That is something we’ve been missing since Hyatt left. You just have to be willing to pay for it.
