What teams are we rooting for this weekend?

Pull for Oregon and Texas. We don’t know how much the committee will ding the losers, but those are our best shots at it.
It looks like these are the only games that matter to us.
I think Penn State is unlikely to move below us but we can still hold out some hope there.
Georgia seems very likely to move below us with a loss to Texas

I don't think Georgia needs to get blown out by Texas in order to drop below us; just lose. And the other game of course is Oregon/PSU. If Oregon wins by 2+ touchdowns, I think the Nittany Lions drop below us. In either of these scenarios I think we end up on the host line on selection Sunday. I don't really think the ACC title game affects us directly, but the 3 loss SEC teams will be watching this one closely, hoping for a lopsided win and whether the ACC will end up a 2 bid league.

Home field would be awesome. A miracle happening and our players stop making dumb mistakes would also be amazing. Finding unbiased officials who have passed an eye test would give us a real shot at a win. Finally, another miracle that results in the complete healing of our injured would be sweet.

Pull for Oregon to thoroughly thump PSU.

Texas losing to UGA for the 2nd time probably wouldn't hurt them much so hope for that one to also be a wide margin win for Texas... just threw up in my mouth a little.

Clemson is realistic and would help the cause.

A Boise loss would add some intrigue.

The "bad news" is that I think the committee will lean toward pairing SEC teams with each other to "diversify" the 2nd and 3rd rounds. I would not be surprised at all if UT has to play the loser of the SEC CG. The caveat would be if a 3 loss team gets in.

Trying to figure out which outcomes give UT the best chance to host a playoff game??
Will be interesting to see what the CFPC really means by "not punishing" CC losers. Does it mean not dropping much if any? Does it mean potentially dropping them several spots but leaving them in the 12 team field? If the Ducks beat PSU by 4 + TDs could they fall below us? No one knows and you can bet whatever they do their reasoning will leave us all going "WTF?" lol

I think the only shot that Tenn could get the 5 seed is if Georgia and Oregon obliterate Texas and Penn State. I think they'd say "OK, Tenn and Texas are about even but Texas lost badly twice to Georgia worse than Tenn did" whereas Georgia would still stay above Tenn IMO. Penn St would stay above Tenn too unless the committee just really thought they looked so terrible they'd drop below Tenn. I don't see either happening. I'm also not sure if they drop them below OSU. But even then, I don't see #5 as realistic because they'd give it to ND.

Do you really think Oregon needs to beat PSU that badly in order for them to fall below us? I was thinking a 2 TD win may do it. The Nittany Lions have no high quality wins.
It all depends on what the CFPC really means by not punishing CC losers. It may have to be so lopsided that their hand is forced. They apparently are not going to count CC losses as much against a team as regular season losses. But MHO is if the Oregon wins 35-21, no PSU will not fall below us. I think the only real chance we have of hosting is if the Buckeyes fall below us in this weeks CFP rankings. Which they may but its probably 60/40 they won't.

I think the opposite. They may pair 2 sec teams but I think they will try to avoid rematches in round 1. I don’t think you’ll see Ohio state play Penn state or Indiana round 1, or Vols play UGA. Now, maybe Indiana v Penn state and Vols v Texas bc they didn’t play, but no rematches round 1. That’s my opinion though. For tv ratings.

Would be much more interesting for fans and more appealing for TV to match up the Big 10 and SEC. SEC CC loser and OSU, us and loser of Big 10 CC, if another SEC team gets in, them and Indiana. Doubt it happens but if I'm a TV exec I'm pushing for it. Must see TV!

How does Georgia winning help us? NO Chance Texas drops below us but if UGA is blown out then they could possibly drop below us. Same for Penn St.
Ga. being "blown out? Not happening, may lose but not blown out. Penn St. win or lose they will stay put above us ( note the location of team they gotta have a home team up there). As for Ohio St., they may end up sending them down here. Not that far a trip and some what better weather. They will bring all the fans and more for the number of tickets they get.

I think the ideal scenario for us is as follows...

1) We are 6 (8) come tonight in front of OSU
2) UGA loses to Texas
3) Penn St gets blown out by Oregon enough that PSU drops behind us, and we are ranked 4th and seeded 6th on selection Sunday.

That puts us most likely hosting Indiana or Big 12 winner in the first round and playing the ACC champ in the quarterfinals. So that's the outcome I'm rooting for.

How is it that Texas couldn't drop below us if Georgia dominates them again? Regardless, I'm pulling for Georgia. We will see how it all shakes out after this weekend

Saw this projection somewhere. No way they do this to Texas and UGA. This would mean Texas next game would likely be a 3rd game vs UGA, and 2nd in a row. I really think they will shuffle seeding based on match ups. How do you do that here?
5 ND v 12 Bama
6 UGA v 11 ASU
7 PSU v Indiana (didn’t play in reg season)
