Sunday's CFP announcement show is going to be like Christmas morning. We're all waiting to see what we get. Tonight at 7 will be like giving the box a good shake and peeling back the tape a little bit. We'll have an idea of what we're getting but can't be 100% sure. Anyone who thought the 12 team playoff was going to be bad for the regular season was wrong. This has been so much fun. I can't wait for Sunday to know for sure what we're getting. I'm hoping for Saturday night in Neyland.

There's 2 real chances to host...#1, be ahead of OhioSt tonight, and #2, Oregon or Texas win in a blowout. That's our only hope, really.

With the way this season has transpired, ANYTHING is possible. In fact, I'd go as far to say that the championships this weekend WILL help the Vols secure home field advantage. Consider it done!!

I also think if UGA blows out TX it helps us. They will have 0 top 25 wins (assuming TXA&M falls out tonight) and 2 losses just like us. That COULD help us.

Agree 100%. Normally I don't stay up late to watch games, especially if it's not the Vols. Visited my dad over Thanksgiving and he definitely doesn't stay up late, but we were both up super late watching that GA-GA Tech game! Then the next day we had the split-screens going watching all those other games especially after the Mich-Ohio State upset!

Does the CFP committee count ranked wins based on the opponent’s ranking at the end of the season or their ranking at the time the game was played? I think it should be at the time the game was played; otherwise, the winning team is punished for winning, as the losing team will fall in the rankings, or fall out of the top 25 together, based on the loss. NC State and Oklahoma were both ranked at the time we played them… not sure if there are any others I’m forgetting. Also, Florida could have jumped into the top 25 if they hadn’t lost to us.

Than we would get credit for beating Nc state and Oklahoma which isn't the case

We are in, the only drama is whether we host or not. Either way, can't really complain too much. It's a great position to be in, we are one of 12 fanbases whose team will continue to play for the big prize and we are one of 6-7 fanbases who go into the weekend knowing that we are going to be in it.

This is literally just taking the 4 team playoff and making it 12 with the same dumb process and money pulls. Ohio State, Indiana, Boise State and Notre Dame have literally zero chance to win unless they play each other

Same Im trying to figure out exactly at what age did I become more excited about college football than Christmas, not the real Christ that should be celebrated everyday bc we’re awful and don’t deserve anything, but the excitement and glee that came with opening presents as a child.

Things have been bouncing our way for the past two weeks. I am hoping that continues through this weekend to get a host spot.

I do think OSU is a favorable match up for us. Their offense in particular is questionable. If we catch them at home, I think it could get ugly fast in a wild night at Neyland.

Texas isn't dropping that far with only two losses and one being in a championship game. Too far to fall and UGA only has to fall 1-2 spots
Interestingly, I was listening to Dusty and Danny this morning on Sirius and they were essentially of the opinion that, the teams that hosted were going to be:

The loser of the SEC championship game
Notre Dame
Tennessee &

Either the loser of the B1G championship game or Ohio State, depending on if Penn State was the loser and lost badly to Oregon. They were saying that if Penn State loses by two touchdowns or more to Oregon they could see Ohio State getting their host spot because Ohio State beat Penn State head to head and only lost to Oregon by 1 point, at Oregon.

Won't get ugly fast, that's not UT style.

We will start slow, behind 10-0 first qtr, then loosen Nico for the second half and win about 27-24 (assuming it's in Neyland)

Until Saturday games are over, guessing who we play is kinda silly there is a lot of chaos that will ensue no matter how things turn out. If the favored teams all win out things fall into place fairly well but.. given how this season has won and who is playing there is gonna be some nutty crap. SMU is favored in the ACC but their resume which looked really good 3 weeks ago looks fairly bad now... Clemson winning that is a real possibility. Big 12 no telling what happens there. Boise will be getting their first real test with UNLV who themselves have had a questionable resume.. Then there is Tulane/Army. Its gonna be a wild wild weekend. The 2 craziest ones happen Friday night (AAC/MWC).

For sure this season has been exciting as it feels like every game every week matters to some extent.

You think a 3 loss SEC team will host? It won’t happen. That said Idk that Texas can beat Georgia so it probably won’t matter.
If UGA loses and it's not by more than 25 points they will not fall behind Tennessee. They would have the same number of Wins and head to head matters. I also think the committee puts Ohio State in between UGA and Tennessee tonight. Same record but OSU has the better wins and better losses. 7-5 Michigan is a better loss than Arkansas and Penn St is a better win than Alabama.
