There should be an automatic dis-qualifier

There might not be 12 teams some years with 2 losses or less from worthy programs. That might trigger small programs like Army getting in ahead of a better SEC team.
It's possible and probably would happen at some point. I just don't think a 3 loss team ( that didn't win or at least play for a major CC ) deserves the opportunity to make a run at the natty , but as you pointed out neither does a smaller program , that would get curb stomped in the CFP .
I have to admit , my motivation for this threat derived from my deep seated hatred of all thing Bama .

No 3 loss team should make the 12 team CFP , unless they win or at the very least play for a major conference championship .
If they did that we would not see anymore inter-conference games during the season, everyone would just schedule FCS games.

Everyone complaining about the first 12 team playoff 🙄. If TN wins the whole thing you won’t be complaining.😂
Most people wouldn’t be complaining if there wasn’t a certain 3 loss team looking like they are getting in. So far I’d say that 12 team format is working out pretty well. How we arrive at those 12 teams is a different matter.

I totally get that. Maybe there will be a shakeup behind them with the conference championship games where they get jumped.

I really don't understand people's obsession with conference championship game invites. What is the difference in a 3 loss team that makes the conference championship game and one that doesn't? tiebreakers.... so you think tiebreakers should disqualify a team from playoff contention.....

I thought about this last night and before last night I’m like “SEC is better no problem with Alabama because they’re better than Miami” and I thought about it and completely changed my tune.

College football and the national title has always been about winning. There was never any conference debate. People got mad in 03 that Oklahoma got in not because the PAC was better than the B12 but because Oklahoma lost their title game and there wasn’t a punishment. 2002 Ohio State didn’t play anyone, didn’t matter. They were undefeated and everyone agreed they deserved a national title shot.

Alabama played 9 truly meaningful games taking out their 3 buy in games. They went 6-3. Same with SC and OM. We need to get back to winning matters. I’m tired of trying to debate conferences. If you want to do that, then that’s fine for the 12 already in. But I can’t in good conscience be like “Miami doesn’t deserve in at 10-2 over an SEC team” when those other 3 teams all have sucked at some point in the year.

Why are you crying about someone else making it? UT literally made it. Alabama has every right to make it. They are better than Miami. There are always 2 and 3 loss teams around the 12-15 spots in the polls.

You know we say that and it’s true but Bama will beat the piss out of Notre Dame and they would be undefeated right now if not for losing to NIU on their pissy little schedule.

I'm not saying we would BUT if we had 3 losses everybody here would be pounding the table about how we deserve that last spot. This site would melt down if we were automatically left out just because of 3 losses.
Honestly they may but I wouldn't . Bama lost 2 games to unranked opponents . And didnt score a TD against the Sooners few weeks ago.
