Are field conditions for playoff games somehow monitored? What is to keep a team from soaking the field or letting the grass grow a bit longer to slow down a running team? It happens in baseball all the time.

I'm sure they are but only Penn St. plays on a natural grass field. I'm not sure what you can do to an artificial field...maybe dump an extra ton or 2 of rubber pellets on it?

We shouldn't have to worry about that at OSU, If I'm not mistaken they have turf. After that will be all neutral sites so if we advance shouldn't be an issue for the remainder of the playoffs. However, had we traveled to Penn St, they would certainly have let the grass grow and possibly soak it to try to slow us down.

I seem to remember a team getting accused of having extra rubber in their field against us. Or maybe they just had crappy turf. Dunno.

Grass really isn’t growing now in the north. At least in the Chicago area. I cut mine last time 5 weeks ago. But who knows what teams might do to their field.
