I'm sure it has been discussed and possibly threads on it. But would like to hear some thoughts on why CJH seems to struggle so badly on having his teams prepared after having even more time to prepare. Between looking uninspired and being very undisciplined when it comes to road games and those games with extra weeks to prepare. I'm very perplexed as to why and what the issue actually is. I wouldn't be concerned if it was a one time issue. The problem is this is becoming the norm for those type of games.

On the upside, I think we finally had a game where the defensive line didn't line up in the neutral zone at least once.

Baby steps.

We had a bye week before the Arkansas game. Lost that one.

This has been my biggest complaint about CJH is he has failed to get the team prepared for big road games. We also need to fire Hazel he can coach his way out of wet paper bag against a team with a competent DC going against him. Our defense wine is most of our games this year.

Vols did well in bowl games the last couple of years with qb changes and mid level Big 10 teams. Moving up on the road with the top teams - not a winning proposition regardless of prep time. Arkansas was a massive screwup after a bye no doubt. We may simply need to hire professional coach/analysts instead of grad students.

I agree, this year we have had some stinkers after our bye weeks. By now you would think his preparation would be better especially since he is getting ”schooled” by the opposing coaches in these games.

Yeah this is concerning and a trend that someone on a high paid staff should look at. Doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results is frustrating. I will say this.
Nico was giving it his all and made some runs and willed himself to some first downs. However I do think OSU sped him up and he was an ineffective passer and couldn't pick up open receivers had multiple passes blocked as a 6' 6" QB. Was all that his fault, no it was a team thing coach's and all but there were some open receivers. It seemed like the moment was too big for him JMO. I thought by now he would have grown more but he played like a freshman which he is a RS Freshman. This is not the end Josh is very loyal and unless Nico gets hurt he will be the QB next year no doubt.
I also think as many do OSU has the best roster in football and they came to play with a chip on their shoulder at their home stadium. Their biggest weakness is their HC. No playoff team won on the road. I think it will be a while before a road team wins in a opening playoff under this current system. I just wished we had shown up more as a team and whatever is going on with team leader Sampson really hurt the chemistry. Their leader was down which is never good.

He may not run a tight enough ship... Kids are weird these days. Not sure how you motivate them now a days. I'd say not getting embarrassed on national TV and have your precious draft stock drop would be motivation enough. We all know it's all about the money , NFL life, swag, watered down football league..

That sir is the place to hang our hats. I told someone that exact thing last night. They were lined up in the NZ a few times, but backed out before being flagged. Crazy how many times that happened this yr.

Oddly, Fulmer had the same issue. After a bye week, the team would come out flat and uninspired.
