I thought this format created a ton of hype. And as bad as that spanking was ... the Vols have NEVER played in Columbus in history! Technically you may say we still haven't, but I digress. Two historic giants of the sport and neither has ever played at the others stadium! The playoffs fixed that. Did I hear that CU and Texas have NEVER even played before? Ridiculous.
It's of course a huge advantage for the homies, but I'd like to see it keep happening with two changes. #1 Scrap the ridiculous conference champion auto bye/seed. And rate teams by on field criteria only. #2 In these home games, give the traveling team 20-30% of the tickets in order to create some neutral site vibes. Our fans made noise last night or Joe Montana (whoever there QB is) may have had a 100% completion rate. I thought that was special.
