Best play of the night was the one that irritated me the most. Why were we trying to cover the best WR in college football with a linebacker?

And if we can’t get QB pressure against elite teams with James Pearce Jr and Joshua Josephs on the roster, how will this defense ever get pressure against elite teams?

He left Joseph in zone covering Henderson on a wheel route before that. We couldn’t get to the QB with the front four so instead bringing an extra rusher or two he plays one of our best edge rushers in coverage. Makes zero sense.

Banks never makes adjustments… This was a replay of the Georgia game from that standpoint. If you can’t generate pressure on the 1st 3 or 4 drives with the 1st four, then it may be time to bring some blitzes. He didn’t in either game, but I’m not sure it would’ve made a difference against Ohio state, they just had better players than we did.

It is a pattern. We keep getting exploited and can’t adjust. See Florida the last two years

We talk trash about Chavis a lot but he came up with some good and creative blitz packages. How many sacks has our linebackers had this season? When was the last time we saw a safety blitz? If we’re gonna put our corners on islands and refuse to cover the flat we need to be bringing pressure every play.

When has TN had a good pass defense since Banks has been there?

Exactly.

He’s still a fraud in my opinion. We had a good Dline. That helped in some games, but for some reason, didn’t in others and he doesn’t adjust things

I can't stand Tim Banks. I have never liked him.
When has the talent, he is a very good coach. When you don't have very good talent at every position, no one is a very good coach. He does not yet have enough talent at LB and Safety to compete for the National championship

Tim Banks is an adequate DC with average assistants with the possibility of Garner being
a somewhat above average DL coach. Our biggest defensive problem is that we have almost
never had above average LB group. Our secondary is almost always average with one or two
very good players that don't always play to their potential (coaching?)

The biggest misses of the past years. Bring back the LB Corps and the ones everybody fears. We had no solution or plug and play after Pili got hurt. Al Wilson types, Kiner, Reynolds types. Raw Red meat Eating players.
Other than that Banks called a terrible game last night. God awful game. Put our DBs in sets on island which did not go well with zero pass rush. Get a Leonard Little. I want hunger and confidence. This line has looked intimidated against high caliber players.
How many stunts last night? No creativity whatsoever.

So are we back to fire Tim Banks? It's hard to keep up.
I’ve never suggested that but today for the first time I’m considering the possibility that the haters are right. Did we get a hand on the QB all night besides the one that grabbed his face mask? Their leading rusher had 8 ypc. I just want to know what we were trying to accomplish on either side of the ball. I’m ok with getting beat by a better team, and clearly Ohio was better, but did we try anything special to disrupt Howard or shut down Jeremiah Smith or shut down the run game? Or we just play cover 2 man all night and hope for the best?
