Why do you think Tennessee struggles to produce the same level of football talent as powerhouse states like Florida, Texas, Georgia, or California? Is it population, coaching, competition, or something else? And if this is a recognized issue, wouldn’t there be efforts to address and improve this?

Kids in South Florida do nothing else but play football or basketball. That is their only way out of Pahokee or Polk county. Tennessee kids have other options so they don't focus on football 24/7/365. They are good, just nothing as good as Florida kids.

I would imagine it is similar in Cali, Texas, Georgia. Well maybe not Cali. Plus bigger population makes the odds of more being really good greater.

Population, Facilities, Coaching and Coaching!! Did I mention Coaching.
State Rules and Regulations.............Florida for instance, you can transfer between High Schools and the end of semester IF you meet a specific GPA. There are many that play basketball for one high school, move to another for football and another for Baseball. Crazy

One of my sons coaches in the Atlanta area in highest level in Georgia football. Those teams are loaded with talent and some are highly ranked at the National level. We recruit Georgia and North Carolina pretty well . We have a few very talented player in Tennessee, but fall way short of Georgia, Florida, Texas etc. Based on the star ranking system, Ohio Stat has more than twice the levenof 4 * player as we do and 10 times the number of 5 star player as we do. One does not usually win National Championships with have the number of 4 and 5 star players is so one sided.

I think population is a big part of the answer. Ans as mentioned above . . . The public school invest a lot more in states like Texas and Georgia in paying the coaches. It’s not rocket science. Coaches want to go where they find talent and can get paid.

All the classifications makes it too hard to judge the talent level. There used to be only 3 and winning it all in AAA was a big deal. The private schools were in there with the public schools as well.
