On the radio today, Kevin Simon shared in 2022 our offense was number one in the country in explosive plays on offense.

This year we were 12th . . . Not in the country. 12th in SEC. Our offense has not been good for two years . . . We were fortunate to squeak out a 10-2 season before Saturday.

He admitted . . . We are definitely missing Golesh.

He stated in the Bama game Hyatt goes 5 TDS on 6 catches. No Hyatt, no win that day. Hyatt allowed Fant, Bru and Tillman when healthy to be threats.

It’s not Golesh being 6-6 at USF as to why we are struggling with dynamic plays. Our plays are the same, we don’t have the players to run them. As Simon said today, we don’t have players who can catch a short pass and turn it into a 20+ yard gain.

I heard that too . . . And agree.

When you have a 6th year senior quarterback with talented receivers verse this year with a redshirt freshmen quarterback with MAYBE better than average receivers you will see that difference.
Not sure everyone looks at the factors as to why the seasons/QB’s differ. Give Nico that WR/TE group this season and we are hosting.

JH would never admit it in public, but am guessing he knows we didn't stack up w/ OL/WR and w/ RS Frosh QB, and good D and RB room, chose to go more conservative and slower... away from how I think he'd like to run his offense. Nico can be good, but he can't be great unless JH fixes OL/WR talent + depth levels. Who is the Rodney Garner of OL coaches...go get him.

Kirby Smart knows how to shut or slow this offense way down. He did it the first meeting with Hooker and the boys. Heupel's offense is not designed for sustaining drives. Stop the over the top and this offense is greatly slowed down. Maybe not stopped but difficult for it to drive down field. There's no motion to it. Very little misdirection.

It seems obvious to me that we've had a change in philosophy since 2022, and I'm not convinced that the change wasn't for the better. It resulted in Sampson having almost 1,500 yards rushing 22 TDs.

The problem is that our OL isn't good enough to for the philosophy to work against the best DLs in the country. IF guys like Heard, Perry, Satterwhite, Umarov, and Sanders can develop the way they should develop - the "run it down their throats" philosophy can result in a natty. See the defending national champions, for example. But if your OL gets whipped, the resulting offensive production is putrid.
