Tennessee is the only team in the country that is expected to play both Alabama and Georgia every year. Makes it very hard to make the playoffs, especially since there is always a good chance we have to play one of them again in the SEC championship if we beat them both in the regular season. Than again in the finals.

Tennessee has more rivalries than any other SEC team. Alabama, Florida, Vandy, UK and Georgia. The Georgia one is the least important in my opinion. It didn't even make the list of 20 most important SEC rivalries

I say, stop playing Georgia every year. Before 2024, its been years since Alabama played Georgia in the regular season. Without Georgia, we could have been undefeated in both 2022 and 2024 (had we not lost to SC/AR).

Sometimes rivalries go away. The Missouri-Oklahoma rivarly was huge in the 90s, they haven't play since 2011 lol.

With Alabama making noise about a less intense schedule, I say let Tennessee do the same.

Sir, September 28th 2024 Bama played UGA in the regular season.

And seriously with the “we would’ve been undefeated” if we hadn’t crapped the bed against these other teams who weren’t Georgia…

I’m fine if we don’t play Georgia every year, but your first season is wrong as Auburn also plays both teams every year
Also Alabama played George in the regular season this year. Also, “Without Georgia we could’ve been undefeated in 2022 and 2024 (if not for other losses)” is kind of a meaningless statement. We’d also have been undefeated in 2023 without Georgia if not for losses against Florida, Alabama, Missouri

I liked our traditional schedule but at the same time I can see times are changing. The one issue I do have is Texas coming in and having a schedule laid out that ensured an easy path through the conference. Blame that on the pathetic excuse for a conference commissioner we have.

We were favored aganist SC in 2022 and AR in 2024. Not sure about the 2023 season.

In the interest of fairness (or unfair advantage) what needs to be eliminated is neutral site games within the conference. Uga / uf as a traditional neutral site game gives an advantage as opposed to home and away alternating years. If neutral cannot be ended, then all teams should have a neutral against a rival every season.

You get the schedule you get and play the schedule you have. Champions do not complain about the schedule, they out recruit and out coach everyone else.

So you would rather have Bama on a neutral field every year instead of at Neyland every other year?

Not me so please don’t encourage this crazy idea.

Bama at Neyland has been awesome their past two trips. Would not even think of changing it to Atlanta or Nashville.

Your personal enjoyment aside, it is an advantage to play a significant rival at a neutral site every year.
Had Uga played in Gainesville this season , they very well may have lost.

I know. Let's play Texas, LSU and Texas AM every year. Watch what you wish. Drop KY, Vanderbilt and GA.

We aren’t going to play Georgia every year, but lol at “we would be undefeated if we didn’t play Georgia (and also won those other games we lost).”

The only team that Tennessee should worry about is Tennessee. We have ourselves to blame for our woes. Take Georgia off the schedule, and all that happens is Texas blows us out in Atlanta and then we either get blown out by OSU, or we host a game, win or lose a close one, then get blown out in our second playoff game if we win the first.

I am the opposite on this. I would like to see an additional SEC game added to the schedule while maintaining our traditional rivals. In my experience, big games are events. Starting with breakdowns, analysis, and predictions with friends, co-workers and on sites like VolNation. Planning out gameday, tailgating, and then the intensity of the game itself is what makes football great. Little of that is there when we play a directional school.

I say, get rid of the SEC Championship Game, name an SEC Champ like we did in the 80's for over 50 years prior. Then expand the playoffs to 16 with no bye week, and have each game played at one of the bowl-site neutral sites (they can still have their sponsored bowl game the next week). Its funny, but my wife said on Christmas day that she felt cheated that we weren't going to Florida for a bowl game this year. Instead I sat in the freezing cold, in a sh**ty stadium for our "bowl" game.

I enjoy my arrogance and sense of superiority over other conferences. Let the other conferences brag about their records against the directional schools.

If they continue to want to sell out season tickets which pay a huge amount of the bill then yes it is for the fans personal enjoyment.

Who wants only scrub games at Neyland.
