I think Mike Matthews leaving at the last-minute tonight is an unfortunate surprise.
Wow! Hopefully we can work something out with him.

On another note: The portal has a few elite WRs but lots of mid range guys. Zachariah Branch and Concepcion from NC State would be great.

I really like WR Kojo Antwi as well from Ohio State. He was a top 200 athlete out of HS but has been buried on their talented depth chart. I worked with his Georgia HS team some and saw that he is special with the ball in his hands.

Just my opinion here, but if MM were all that, he would have been on the field way more than he was - and I suspect that our coaches would have met his financial demands. We don’t have an unlimited talent budget and they must have felt that they have better WR on campus and the two coming in. I’m certainly not going to lose any sleep over this one. I mean it’s not like MM was Robert Meachum or aomething. I fully trust this staff to know where to spend money and where not to. I strongly suspect they want a whole new WR room- and based on what I saw with our guys getting open approx ZERO percent of the time - I’m good with that.

In sum: if MM couldn’t beat out what we had starting all year, I’d rather spend that money elsewhere.
Sounds like Matthews isn't submitting the paperwork until Monday so we'll see where things stand 48 hours from now, I suppose.

Bro Mike !!! Wtf
Guys we just lost a 5 star at the University of Tennessee
This is a HUGE problem
We didn’t lose him. He’s not officially in the portal. He wants a restructured contract going forward. He requested papers, that’s all.

It’s a huge problem for every school having to recruit players you already recruited or developing players just for them to transfer.

I absolutely hate college football right now. Someone please fix it. Even if Heupel goes to the portal and creates a monster, I don't care. Unlimited free agency, with no contracts, no collective bargaining, no obligations...It's 100% impossible for schools and coaches to manage a roster. The pros couldn't do it. One day they'll write about these crazy times in history books.

Got it... adapt or die...thanks Brad. I too watched Moneyball. On the other hand, I expect some changes and controls will come about. Society can operate in chaos for only so long.
Paying the players with no salary cap is one thing. Unlimited transferring has poured gasoline on that reality. This is why college
Coaches are bailing and you’re seeing GMs installed to manage the money and player personnel. It’s a 24x7 rat race.

"Players had until 11:59 p.m. local time to submit their names to enter the portal. Compliance departments at schools across the country have 48 hours to process a player's paperwork, so players from teams that have already finished their seasons will continue to be added to the portal Monday and perhaps even into Tuesday."
