Don’t get me wrong. I know there are some freshmen that look like they are ready to play in NFL but I’m wondering in order for the offense to really work, we need specific skill set players and players who have experience.
For example, our running backs have to be able to handle large workloads. Not every RB can do that, .. especially younger ones with less muscle .
Then you have WRs. We need speed and tough ones who like to block. Younger WRs don’t like to block. They might give up on plays.
plus these routes might be long routes.. too much running? Who knows.
It seems like we do better with experience players.
Maybe we should embrace this whole portal thing

I think to run the offense at uptempo, the QB needs to be intelligent and able to quickly process what he is seeing on the field. So finding an experienced QB with at least two years of eligibility from the portal would probably work better for Heupel's style of offense. The recruits at QB probably need to stick around for at least 3 years, holding the clipboard and learning before they are ready to challenge for the starting position.

And in today's college football world, one year of carrying a clipboard will be all they will do, then gone in the portal. This thing is not sustainable. I expect to see coaches leaving the profession because of being burned out having to deal with the nonsense they are now.

The Miami basketball coach said out loud what most of them think of it..

Nico probably needed to sit for 2 or 3 years, before he was ready to be the starting QB, but with the money he is being paid that wasn't going to happen.

They are taking this small money in the short term, but risking making major money in the long term, because of lack of development in college.

We do better with experienced players in the system. WRs have to understand coverage and leverage along with the QB. With that said, the best players need to play if they're capable of making a difference as a freshman. We had a lot of experience at WR this year and it didn't mean much.

As I said earlier, this is not sustainable. Saban saw what was happening and about to happen, said nope, ain't dealing with that. Now the BB coach at Miami has had enough and hung up his whistle. College athletics prior to NIL was hard enough, consuming most of the coaching staffs time, either recruiting or scouting potential recruits. It's only gonna get worse going forward. Coaches will not be able to have family time, which will lead to divorce for a lot of coaches.

Coaches were under enough pressure prior to NIL, but now, it's absolutely nuts. It won't matter how much a coach loves the game, the burnout will take its toll. I hate to think about that happening, but I honestly don't see how it can end up any other way.

Our offense is meant to have pristine pass protection to allow the route concepts to develop and force db's to uncover their disguises, thus making a choice. Then our qb can throw lasers to receivers left running wide open across or downfield.

We just need that pass pro. I know that the receivers coach has been called into question lately, but there haven't many been reports of these new boots working their asses off like Payton, Jones, Hyatt (in particular) and Tillman did so I'll take their whining with a grain of salt.
