Heupel has show an inability to do that, and this exodus of WR is a direct result of not being strategic.

Nico wasn’t ready to go this season. Our offense suffered. And now I can already see the writing on the wall.

Heupel is going to end up flaming out here because he can’t make the right decision.

College football will be inherited by the money’d programs that are willing to spend money that will in turn bring in coaches that can identify talent to fit schemes and that can play immediately. Or they won’t be competitive.

Wow, make the playoffs with 10 wins and he wasn't ready. I can only imagine what he does when he's ready.

You guys act like children who don't get their way. Am I the only one laughing histerically because of how you guys are acting. Poor guys.

Everything is fine. How much production was lost with the portal (500yds and a couple of TDs?)? I'll hang up and listen.

Part of me agrees with this. I honestly believe Nico could’ve gotten us to at least 8-4 last year like Milton did. Milton is a VFL but I still stick by what I believe and that is Heupel rewarded him for sticking around the program through all the adversity.

Ole Miss spent a ton of money last year. How’d that work out?

I generally think the correct thing to do if you’re looking at it impartially is to play the younger player (if you think either will likely give you similar results). It’s possible that if Nico had played more last year he would have been more prepared from the beginning this year . . . if this happens maybe we don’t lose to Arkansas. If we don’t lose to Arkansas we likely get a home game and better matchup in the CFP.

These are certainly a lot of if’s. I was never optimistic about Joe Milton tho. A guy that had been in college for five years and been mediocre the entire time wasn’t going to suddenly turn the corner in his sixth year. Last year was never going to be a great season with him as the starter. I would have taken my chances with Nico even if it meant an extra loss.

Hindsight is, of course, 20/20. We’re not privy to the inner workings of the team. Maybe if CJH doesn’t start Milton last year he loses the locker room . . . who knows.

While I don't agree with the OP about Heupel flaming out, your last sentence is silly. Under this notion, losing Sampson prior to this year wouldn't have been that big of a deal. Or losing Hyatt prior to the 2022 season wouldn't have been that big of a deal because their production the year prior wasn't that great. It's called development and coming of age as a college football player. If MM doesn't come back and lead the team in receiving yards, it might be a long year in the pass game.

I don't think it's silly at all. There's no guarantee any of those guys that entered would have produced next year the same way you don't know if a current player will have a breakout year the same as Tillman or Hyatt did. To be fair Matthews didn't show much at all when he got his chances. He caught 7 passes in 107 snaps the last part of the season. Assuming he would be the go to guy is what's silly.

We haven’t lost any significant young WRs. I’m not seeing the issue here
