USC WR Zachariah Branch
Zachariah Branch
and his brother Zion have yet to commit as the dead period comes to a close. Sources tell On3 that Tennessee is going all-in to land a visit, using a recruiting pitch involving receiver Bru McCoy. Nico Iamaleava’s Dad is also making a push, sources told On3. The brothers previously visited Arizona State and Georgia.

He's fast and twitchy, like Velus was. That makes him a nightmare for opposing defenses with the ball in his hands. He has the ability to take it to the house anytime he touches the ball. Not sure how the rest of his game stacks up (i.e. route running, creating separation, hands), but he would be a welcome addition.

I'll allow it as long as we don't also have to also sign that Ishmael kid from Kingpin in a package deal:

What about Jourdan Thomas? Wasn't he going to be the starter this year?
Im interested in seeing how it’s going to workout with him back and Boo getting reps on offense. Will they just switch off at nickel/star and that will be enough since Boo is getting reps on offense as well, or will one move to safety to get the best playmakers on the field together? I’m for the latter. Both of them on the field together would be great. And moving Boo to safety might be better for the D in the long run cause we need a center fielder that can cover from sideline to sideline badly and Thomas plays more like an extra linebacker too that’s a lot faster and can cover. I also feel like Boo playing in the backend will save his body for plays on offense.

Yes he was before he was hurt. He is supposed to return next year so it would probably be a battle for the starting safety spot between him and Turrentine. But like I always say, you can't have enough depth in the secondary. But with that being said, this could be a reason for the Branch bros to not come to TN. Hopefully not, but Zion would have to earn his spot for sure.

They need to incorporate more of the 2022 offense, but if they’re keeping the more dumbed down version we saw in 2024, Branch is almost a necessity. Big time YAC guy that can turn any short throw into a long gain.

So exactly what makes this guy elite? High school recruiting rankings? 2 years of college stats against bad competition don't scream elite.
I agree. I don't see him being a guy we should spend "a bag" on. I would like to get both bros, but not bet the farm on them. I'd much rather spend money on going after Nate Clement. And I don't think he would cost near as much. Could save the the money and go after another RB and S. Or possibly an OL who has yet to enter the portal, imo.

He's an elite overall athlete. Ran the 100m in HS faster than Hyatt. He has legitimate 4.3 speed. If you watch his tape, he is super agile with top tier cutting ability.

Obviously there is more to being a good WR than just being an elite athlete though.
