Why didn't Gabriel follow CJH. Not recruited? He knew offense and had best yr under CJH. Did we not offer. I know he belittled Hype. Was he butt hurt?

Look at his film under Hypes last year. The film of that offense is what got me excited we got Hype. I know it was against lesser talent, but he can play.. Think if he came here, and played the 3 yrs he was eligible we would be saying who's gonna replace him. I would take a 4th year starter in him over a 2nd yr Nico.

Wait until after his second year to say that. Burrow, Hurts, Spencer Rattler, Hendon Hooker, and Levis all made big jumps their second year. Would I have preferred to have Gabriel all along? Yes, you skip the learning curve of hookers first year.
Edit: maybe not Levis lol

Heupel made a promise to UCF when he left that he would not take any of their scholarship players as transfers to UT.

Only one he took was Gaston Moore but he was not on scholarship there or here.

Which is how it should be.

You don't think if Gabriel had stayed you would have won?
I imagine we, as in Tennessee, wouldn’t have won if Gabriel had stayed at OU, because Arnold was horrible in that game. Arnold being horrible was the biggest reason we won, so if Gabriel had stayed, I doubt we would have won.

Gabriel went to OU to play for Jeff Lebby, who he had done well with at UCF. Gabriel had an injury, IIRC, which caused him to miss time at UCF. OU had no one in the QB huddle who would have been anywhere near as good as Gabriel when they got him.

Rumor is that Gabriel got a huge chunk of change from Oregon that OU didn't feel they could justify and pay what they needed to keep Arnold. A lot of discussion on the OU boards about whether Gabriel could have done much better with the poor Oline and all receivers being hurt.

Yeah I think he tore his ACL if I'm not mistaken

He was encouraged to leave OU because they had Jackson Arnold. This was after leading them to 10 wins and a 30/6 ratio. How’d that workout ?

He also threw for 30/6 this season. He’s a very good quarterback.
I didn’t realize he was asked to leave OU. That didn’t work out well at all for them.
