Debate the Coordinators

Our DC has systematically improved year over year and our OC has systematically gotten worse year over year. Banks is the last one I want to leave outside of Heupel and Rodney. What are the thoughts on the board? I want Hazle demoted more than losing Banks.
Is there a time and place we are doing this debate with Banks and Joey?

Banks might just end up with a head coaching job somewhere. Like Miami.

IMO, Banks's success is because of Gardner. He's a great Dline coach.
McCoy had several red zone INT's and so did Brooks. D-Line is a large part but not the only part.
Edit: you could counter argue that Banks trusted Rodney's squad at Georgia and Ohio St to do their jobs and they failed. So was it really all Dline?

My thoughts are 1)Hooker, 2)tempo 3)a decent Oline 4)2 nfl WRs. 2022 had it, this year didn’t. I don’t think Heupel’s system flourishes when it’s not uptempo. A young qb and a mediocre pass blocking line dictates what you can run and how well. If you actually look at our Oline I believe 10 wins was damn impressive.

Our offense scored more points than in 2023. Doesn’t that mean they were better offensively?

“More than losing banks”

What a dumb comparison. “Hey the thing no one wants, wouldn’t you rather have a new OC?”

That’s like saying “would you rather get cancer or a new car?”

That's a fair assessment. I think even if you're running you can still go tempo at times which we didn't. There's more comments about the defensive side which was top 10 instead of the second year of lackluster offense well outside of the top 20. Those two years are with Hazle at OC, which makes me think it's more him than Heupel. The OC has a lot of input in game planning even if he isn't calling every play.

I think honestly if Heupel didn’t think it was working out he would demote him. Heupel calls most of the offense. The whole approach to how we play offense was modified our skill players outside rb are a lot worse. Idk if you get a fair assessment until you fix that Oline.

I know this is probably an unpopular opinion but I’m not super impressed with Banks. Defense was really stout this year, but they also had a ton of depth. Will be deep next year too. It is fair to say he’s done a good job, but man they did not show up in games when they were evenly matched. The game planning was poor and I didn’t see much creativity. I think he’s decent, but I also think we could do way better. Would love to see Venables as DC one day.

Lmfao anyone who thinks we were evenly matched with Georgia and Ohio State is 100% insane

1 point difference in ppg avg. We got worse by a lot in the red zone efficiency. 24 team blew out G5 teams but struggled to break 27 in conference where as the 23 team basically stayed around 30 regardless who they played.

Snag Lebby up as OC at some point.

Venables went out and hired a hot shot OC and the hot shot QB followed him. He thinks this is a serious business/ not get your buddies a paycheck.
