In D1 basketball.. how long can we hold the streak? If we beat Florida tomorrow.. we are favored heavily in every game left on our schedule except for @auburn. Even the @Florida and @UK game which is our next closest game have us favored 54/46.

Is this the year? I feel like I want to get excited but our one Achilles heel is injuries. We lose ZZ, Lanier or random post player for any extended period of time and we are boned. Unless Bishop, Dubar and Philips can hold it down. We are so paper thin because of only 9 healthy scholarship players. But pull it off and that weakness becomes a strength because it means we have Minimum 8 slots open for portal/Recruits next year.

I think this is the most excited I have been for the last 35 years or so about UT men's basketball. I really hope we can maximize these last few Barnes years. I think he deserves to go out with a Natty at the REAL UT. Can we get it? dunno but can we get there? I think we have what it takes health permitting to be a final four team and I don't see anyone outside of the SEC (Auburn, Bama, Kentucky) except for maybe Duke and Uconn getting in our way. Maybe Iowa State

We’ve had some great teams on the court at UT, and I think if the collegiate refs call Edey the way the NBA does last year’s team is a natty team. I also think it’s possible that if Lanier can keep this pace, this team could be even better than that. We already see how we’ve upgraded over Aidoo in the head to head from this weekend, Zeigler is Zeigler, Gainey has really improved his game… this year can be special.

Its unrealistic to expect to get through the gauntlet of this year’s SEC schedule without at least a few losses. But this team should be no lower than a 2 seed, and I think they are built to go very, very deep in March regardless of a 1 or a 2 seed, as you said barring further injuries

Till Tuesday
Meh, I like our chances Tuesday and even if it goes sideways that's one game. Its a definite challenge. But we can eat 6-7 losses and still be a 1 seed. I don't see 6-7 losses on our schedule as things sit now even assuming no one improves (highly unlikely). Barring some severe injuries we are worst case a high 2 seed in the dance.

I just want to be one of the top 7-8 teams on the S-curve to ensure we play the first weekend in Lexington.

Is that ESPN’s BPI or whatever? At Florida, at Kentucky and at Texas A&M all are pretty much toss ups on barttorvik currently, less than 3pt lines.

We will know a lot more after Tuesday night. The win at Illinois is looking better every day. The defense appears to be solid, but they have played the schedule that last year’s team had played by this point in season.

I agree. We need to aim for that 1 seed though. Last year should put to rest any debate on the last 1 seed vs top 2 seed. Had we been the 1 instead of UNC we at least make the F4.

For sure but with Cade down for who knows how long that's getting scary. We are thin in the post again, literally.
