For educational purposes only... The amount of tension on each rim has to be within NCAA specs. There is actually a device that is used to measure it. They cannot be too loose OR too tight. If youve ever played basketball at the highschool level up, you KNOW a tight rim is harder to shoot on if you arent used to em. And yes... they will sound different.

And to add to this, it is probably supposed to be checked prior to each matchup, but much like the height of the goal, a lot of officials will just assume it has been taken care of, and is correct prior to them taking the floor unless a coach/player specifically asks them to take a look at it.

Edit: I just checked, and it looks like it is supposed to be checked prior to the season, and then again prior to any postseason play that may occur at that location.

Florida didn’t shoot well on jumpshots either and I heard/saw the clank too, so I would be wholly unsurprised if they weren’t a bit overtight for both teams with Florida’s plan being to try to play the inside game. I definitely wouldn’t put it past their HC.

I should clarify I thought both rims were tight on both sides, and they probably were just on the tight side of the regulation. I feel like TBA’s rims are pretty loose/forgiving

No, the rims hate us and have always been biased against us. It’s a conspiracy. I saw Jimmy Dykes messing with them before each half to make sure it was just the rim we were on.

I keep seeing 17% thrown around in posts. We didn’t shoot 17%, we shot 21.4% (12-56). Where did 17 come from?
