And to add to this, it is probably supposed to be checked prior to each matchup, but much like the height of the goal, a lot of officials will just assume it has been taken care of, and is correct prior to them taking the floor unless a coach/player specifically asks them to take a look at it.For educational purposes only... The amount of tension on each rim has to be within NCAA specs. There is actually a device that is used to measure it. They cannot be too loose OR too tight. If youve ever played basketball at the highschool level up, you KNOW a tight rim is harder to shoot on if you arent used to em. And yes... they will sound different.
