In just a short time Tennessee football has gone from an embarrassing loss program to a signature win program. Thank you Josh Heupel. Not long ago, a loss to UT would put coaches on the hot seat, or lead to their firing and now a win over Tennessee is viewed as a signature win and coaches remain retained. The national sentiment has changed with how UT is viewed as an opponent. With all the talk about Day being close to the chopping block after the Michigan loss, it was amazing how quickly the tone changed after their win against UT and advancing in the playoff.

Yeah, that's not true. The only way they were gonna stop the Day hate was by winning the CFP. Just beating us wasn't gonna stop the fire Day talk. Fans still wanted him fired going into last night's game. If they had lost, that talk would have ramped back up. tOSU saw the Texas win as the bigger/better win. Which they aren't wrong, they were way more competitive than we were.

Yes, the Texas win was bigger, because Texas was the better opponent and win game meant even more. I am not talking about the lunatic fringe of Ohio State's fanbase, I'm talking about the national sentiment.

Tennessee is viewed as a legitimate opponent on everyone's schedule now and beating them is either a signature win, or an understandable/acceptable loss.

Day might be looking to get out of there after this win. Maybe he is tired of the osu fans hating him because he can't beat michigan
He isn'tgoing anywhere right now because there isn't an opening worthy of him taking. If you were Alabama, and 2 years from now, OHST still hasn't beat Michigan but makes it to the playoffs every year, would you hire Day? I think they absolutely would. Those Michigan losses don't mean anything if you have the NC pedigree to go with your name.

Losing to us in 2015 was what got Mark Richt fired. UGA had a 24-3 lead at one point in that game.

In hindsight, maybe we would’ve been better off losing that game lol

Would’ve accelerated the timeline to get rid of Butch and also means UGA probably wouldn’t have Kirby today.

Someone had to win the natty. Might as well have been the team that dashed our hopes. Don't like them, but they won.

OK Freak, let's demand that all threads now talk about next season.

The Tennessee game will just be a footnote on this season for Buckeye fans. They would remember the win in Happy Valley, the dominant Rose Bowl win, beating Texas in Dallas, and the national championship win over Notre Dame and former Buckeye Marcus Freeman more than Tennessee.

Although I do truly think Buckeye fans will probably remember the Michigan game more than any of those, perhaps with the exception of Texas.

Confusing thread title, but I agree with the post.

Kirby was always going to Georgia.

I could probably name 7-10 coaches who would have fared better with the roster and staff he has had.
Over the 6 years, the roster hasn't been as good as it was this year. 7-10 coaches would have gone better than 70-10 in this span?

I'm not defending the guy, I personally think he's a turd. You'd be very hard-pressed to find anyone that can go 70-10 at any program. Throw in a national championship also
