Depending on whether the Lady Vols are hitting shots Monday or not, we have equal shots at losing by a lot or winning by a little so, once again, I'm not going to pick a winner or a score.

But I will say this. While we had such a completely different team last season, that team which floundered a large portion of it turned out to be the ONLY team to have given South Carolina a genuine scare. That much-maligned team had the eventual national champs dead to rights with 1.1 seconds to go.

I bring this up to make the point that you never know about sports. If last year's squad could get that close, I feel like with a healthy shot percentage and a lot of luck, who knows? Maybe THIS time Tennessee will get it right, even if it comes down to the wire again.

100% voting for LV so far. Hmmmmm

Are we a NegaVol if we don't pick LV to beat 2nd best team in country?
Not at all! Some people, like me, simply cannot bring themselves to write dwn a score that doesn't give Tennessee more points. 😅 I think it probably just feels better to most fans to be optimistic about the upcoming game. Not everyone needs that type of self-soothing. Fans aren't required to be realistic -- just passionate!

South carolina is good no doubt im not a fan of there starting lineup so while that group is in i believe we can def compete its when fulwiley, edwards and tessa come in and staying even on the boards(knock on wood)
Yep when they bring their starters off the bench it definitely gets tougher.

The set up is perfect for us - an extra day of rest and what could be a trap game for SC coming off the biggie.

We'll have to shoot at least as well as we did at Texas and I'm not sure we're capable of that two games in a row against a superior D.

We kept it very close all 3 times against them last year, expect we'll at least keep it close. Upset not likely, but def possible.

You could count the hurried and bad shots we take and come up with 10 possessions or more in everygame we've lost that we could've handled better. We'll have to handle them all well in this game or we won't be in it.

I’m seeing some usual chatting on the game thread, one thing for certain the LVs will compete with any team on the road or home.
The key to beating South Carolina for the Lady Vols being coached by arguably the best assistant (interim) head coach in the country Jenna Burdette is playing 9 players. The LVs have as deep a team as any team in WBB.
With that being said, Ruby and Talaysia need to see 30+ minutes in this upcoming stretch. Alyssa need to see 20+ minutes.
I maintain that the early season setbacks due to injury with Samara Spencer and Jewel Spear have hindered them to some extent.
Kaniya Boyd is a player that I would like to see play some additional minutes when we have other guards struggling defensively.
I believe people will disagree on who is the odd player out of the 10 starters rotation if they went to 9 players but it’s the best formula to winning/closing these games against Top 10 teams.

I love the LV's but just don't see beating S.C. or LSU this season.

I see a VG chance of an upset
SC hasn't faced this style of play
barely got a win from LSu,,,scored low
our near upset of them last year

All good pre-cursors for an upset

OK guys, this thread needs a little controversy to get you guys talking some smack.....

This girl, Chole Kitts, appears to be their weak link......In the LSU game and other games I have peeked in on, this girl was not very fast, nor much of a ball handler....She can shoot some, but she is not much of a play maker...Keep her out of the paint and she is not real effective.

Our defensive weakness is Puckett...I hope the coaching staff does not put Puckett on Chole, but they probably will...Unfortunately, Puckett has to guard someone...She spends most of her game time in the trailing position as her defensive assignment just blows by her.

Let me add, I'm sure both of these young ladies are wonderful human beings, but Jake, this is college basketball .....

I was so happy that LSU did not pull an upset. I think a loss would have assured a tough night for the LVs.

It will come down to the shooting because made shots let our defense get set versus being caught in transition.

If the team at least falls between the red hotness of the Texas game and the brick layers special of Vandy, they can keep it close.

We need to Coop to come out with fire!!!

Maybe after all these heartbreakers, fate will break our way.

The LVs really need this victory to get back in the top 4 seed race.

Ruby Whitehorn is the x-factor. Just like Texas didn’t have anyone that could guard Ruby this South Carolina team won’t have anyone that can guard her.
It’ll take a Bre Beal type of defender to contain Whitehorn at the guard/wing position.
When Coop and Whitehorn start playing 30mins a game this team is going to close out games with a W.
All eyes are on Coach Caldwell and Tennessee. Never seen this before in the lady’s game for a 1st year coach on ESPN the game announcers talked for about a minute or so during the Kentucky vs Vanderbilt men’s game about the Lady Vols being essentially 4 last second possessions and 8 points away from an undefeated record.
Imagine that in year 1!
Still a lot of basketball left to be played.
GBO ‘solid’’!
