It appears that the NCAA Rules Committee at the request of the American Football Coaches Assn. is finally looking at penalizing teams and players who do the fake injury routine. They are proposing that the offending player has to sit out the remainder of the possession. Teams would be charged a timeout if they wanted to get said player back in the game during the possession. There was some reference in the story that the players who have the helmet microphone would only have to sit out one play but that seems kind of odd to me. Looks to me like there should be no exceptions.
