I try to take my family to at least a couple of the Lady Vols softball games 1), they are cheap enough for a family of four, 2). There usually are plenty available for most of the games. I go to the UT website and start looking up tickets and there a few in $30 to $40 range (still high for me) and they quickly jump to more than $100 a ticket. Are people seriously paying $100 or more for a ticket to the softball games?

Where did folks think the money to finance the new college sporrts was going to come from? And this is before schools officially start paying salary which I believe starts this summer.

Football was outpriced for my family years ago, and sadly, now men's bball is also unless I catch resale at the last minute. AD has announced a 10% increase in mbb tix, plus the 6% (I think it is) "talent tax". That's 16% increase on what are already very high prices. Rare to see an SEC game for less than 75 - 100$ perr tik. Sure hate to see women's sports leave my realm as well but it seems inevitable.

But it's just good capitalism (sort of an oxymoron), they'll keep the $$$ spickets open full force until it effects ticket sales. So far it hasn't. Thank goodness for TV for the rest of us.

sounds outrageous. plenty of games to attend, prices should be lower unless it
is for a top 5 opponent
My guess is those prices reflect the markup by Ticket Master. I do not understand why the Athletic Department has chosen to sell tickets through them. It really prices a lot of people from being able to take a family out to the ball games.

We got the email about renewing our women's basketball tickets and, unless I mistaken, there is that 10% increase there as well. We are OK with it because the tickets are comparatively cheap compared to men's basketball or football, though I think we might give up our football tickets both because of price and because the social deck is simply not worth what they're charging for it. I think with the upgrades to TBA we will feel our tickets are even more reasonably priced, or at least that's what I'm hoping.

Prices for season tickets will likely be going up for me. I can't see Danny reducing the price with the improvements he has planned. This season I paid $109.25 per seat in section D plus a $10 processing fee plus a $450 priority fund donation (lump sum for both seats) plus tax. Out the door cost for two seats in section D was $678.50. Well worth it to me to sit behind home plate with friends.

Per game seat cost was $28.27.

I fear for us sports TV viewers... it's ruled by ESPN who is owned by Di$ney who wants to own you and your family.

May I intoduce you to radio and the Lady Vol Network? Actually, radio is fine, but eventually even just audio streaming the games will co$t listeners as well.

Oh, I think you understand alright. I don’t think anyone’s too confused about the goal of major “college” athletics programs anymore.

Also TicketMaster is horrific, having seen the astronomical markup of Beyoncè tickets last week. Wish we could move away from them.
Yes, At time it appears all seats are sold out and only remarket tickets are for sale. There have been several articles online about Ticketmaster remarketing and selling their own tickets at crazy prices. Sometimes, right before the the game some regular tickets pop up the last day or two. It is all about making people panic they won't get a ticket to gouge people for all they can! It should be illegal!

Because the games are already sold out on the primary market. What you are seeing are Verified Resale tickets and those prices are set by the resellers, plus the Ticketmaster fees. Face value for softball tickets is $24/$12/$10.

Your best bet for a cheaper ticket is to come day of the game and purchase the standing room/outfield tickets that are sold in person only.
