No. 15/13 Lady Vols (20-6, 7-6 SEC) play the first of two straight road games when they travel to Gainesville to meet Florida (14-13, 5-8 SEC) at Exactech Arena at the Stephen C. O'Connell Center.

Tennessee has won its last three games and five of its past six, defeating No. 5/5 UConn and No. 18/19 Alabama during that stretch and dropping a narrow road decision to No. 6/4 LSU. Kim Caldwell's squad finds itself in eighth place in the SEC standings with an opportunity to climb as high as fourth or fifth if it wins out and gets some help.

Florida has won its past two games and three of its past five, knocking off Mississippi State, 69-66, last Sunday and crushing Texas A&M in College Station, 74-52, on Thursday night to get back over .500. Leading the Gators are four players averaging double figures in points, including freshman guard Liv McGill (16.5 ppg.), senior center Ra Shaya Kyle (14.9 ppg., 9.0 rpg.), senior guard Jeriah Warren (12.1 ppg.) and sophomore guard Laila Reynolds (10.6 ppg.).

I don’t think that alligator is okay.

Beyond the standings and potential seedings, I'm thinking this is also an important game to see how we've matured... to see how much effort and focus we can bring when we aren't being fueled by +10K Lady Vol fans.

I'm also concerned that the (inevitable) bad calls are having a cumulative effect on some players--that is, some of our girls don't seem to have found an efficient way to truly forgive, forget, and move on from each game's "injustices." Depending on one's life experiences, that can be a huge challenge.
----------

🤔 I wonder if that isn't a problem right now for most coaches, seeing how today's players have come of age in a time of unprecedented suspicion and doubt (from across the political scale) concerning authorities that regulate our lives, whether the issue was "defund the police" or "drain the swamp" or "vaccine hesitancy."

As anyone who was playing school ball in the late '60s to early '70s can attest... everything that's going on in society finds its way onto the court.

If everyone shot their average that plays the final score would be Tennessee 90 Florida 76. If you figure it another way they get 61 shots per game and average making 29 field goals of which 6 are threes. They get to the line 20 times and make 14 so their total would be 78 points. For us we average 75 shots and make 34 field goals of which 7 are threes. Surprising we only get to the line 17 times on average and make 12. That gives us a total of 87 points. So using any formula if both teams played to their averages on the season we are a 9 to 14 point favorite to win the game today. We'll see how it plays out as I have us at 85 points under our season average by just a little. Always a great chance we miss a lot of threes and free throws hopefully not that much under our averages today. I have them at 68 ten under their average as they have scored 55 against Kentucky and 86 against Vanderbilt and then right in the middle 69 against Mississippi State. I think and hope under 70 will be all they can muster against our defense. They turn it over 17 times and we need to get that up to over 20 and of course win the boards. Game is Quad 2 so would be a big win for us on the road.

I am hopeful that the LV's get off to a fast start and never lets the Gators back into the game.It would be nice to have a non -worrying game on the road but we have not played all that well on the road .....so the best of luck LV's even if it a one point win.

I've noticed through the season that Florida is a fast starting team and they fade in the second half of games. I like you am hoping we beat them from start to finish.
