I realize it's still early, but dang, these team stats should get any UT baseball fan excited. Our batting is as good as last year if not a tad better (honestly, there isn’t much higher they can go batting-wise). But our pitching is crazy dominant so far through 11 games. At this same time last year, I think most would agree that our pitching was probably slightly above average (in terms of SEC and top 50 teams nationally), but nothing close to what we are seeing so far this year. While this group may not win another natty, collectively, they may be more talented than last year's NC team. I've watched six full games so far this year and all three games this past weekend, and, oh man, are they a lot of fun to watch. So much talent! It will be interesting to see how this team's chemistry continues to evolve over the course of the next 2-3 months. No doubt this much talent is a blessing, but SECCs and NCs ultimately come down to team chemistry and being able to elevate your teams' game on the biggest of stages. That stuff never shows up on a stat line. That said, CTV has proven to be a master at developing a strong, positive team culture in Knoxville. Going to be a fun ride again in 2025!

Sorry, I noticed that the batting avg stat got cut off. We are currently sitting tied at #15 in that stat line. IMO, OBP, slugging %, and Runs Scored matter more. At the end of the day, this team doesn't seem to swing at a lot of bad pitches. They work over the pitchers and find a ways to score runs.
