Starting off with the official ncaa site that includes selection Sunday countdown and historical moments. First up is the last four minutes of #16 Harvard defeating #1 Stanford. The only win ever in the tournament for any 14-16 seed. Tara V looks so young.

Interesting trivia, a Uconn fan recently posted that Sarah Strong’s mom was on that Harvard team.

CBSSports is usually fairly accurate in seed predictions…any hoo this is their guess:

NCAA.com which is usually not as accurate:

Herhoops.com which usually gets it close:

And finally ole Charlie and ESPN who get a lot wrong historically:

So we have south carolina fans starting game threads now or is this another thread where we get to hear about South Carolina all the time? Asking for another vol fan.

This thread is for all WBB fans Rickster, no requirement to enter it of course, that is your choice. The tourney is 64 teams deep and many WBB enthusiasts follow a few teams or have an interest in the tournament in general. It’s all good.

68 teams actually but who's counting?
She was Dawn Staley’s roommate in the WNBA….

Sarah’s mom:

Feaster-Strong attended Harvard College, graduating in 1998 with a degree in Economics, and setting multiple Ivy League women's basketball records along the way. She was selected as a first-team All-Ivy League player each of her four years, and was the first athlete in any sport to be honored as Ivy League Player of the Yearthree times, after also having been Ivy League Rookie of the Year.[3]

I think she scored 33 in that game vs Stanford..

Got it. You will drive this thread like you did with the SEC tourney thread. You’re already above 50% of posts. Doesn’t take a Genius to see where this is going.

Well Rickster, some of us are genuinely just WBB fans, and with no axes to grind. I’m excited for the upcoming tournament, like a lot of other fans. I will probably watch almost all of the games, even the lower seeded ones, it’s a great time of the year to enjoy the game. Peace.

Btw, as the sport grows I find it hard to not follow all of the great players/programs across the country. I’m 63 now, no time to waste on petty stuff that would take away from the joy of watching these young women play the game, wherever they go to school.

The 2024-2025 NCAA WBB selection committee members:

These are the folks who select and seed. Outside of Northwestern, no P4 schools have a voice on this committee. It could be a good thing, I’m really not sure.

But this is an interesting change this year:

”The committee also voted to remove "conference record" and "nonconference record" from the championship selection criteria, noting that the existing criteria of "overall record" is inclusive of that information.”

Who has an axe to grind? Don’t turn this into the persecuted chicken thread. I just don’t care to have USC shoved in front of my face all the time. I also don’t like posters who believe every post is directed to them and they’re obligated to reply to each and every one then become entitled.

This thread is about 68 teams from the start, including Tennessee. It’s just about the ladies March Madness Rick. Feel free to replace this thread with your own, makes no difference to me Rick. It’s all good.

A 5th seed for the LVs seems about right.

This will play into the seedings big time this year unless I’m wrong. Outside of the quad changes, this is the biggest for implications on Sunday, and the source of what some will call surprises. It likely helps teams from leagues like the Ivey League, or teams from P4 that scheduled weak. Think on that one.

I think UT will be above both Bama and OM in the 5th seeds however @madtownvol . We will see, but H2H still matters imo, and the Uconn win should carry heavy weight. Plus they showed during the season against the heavy weights they can play with anyone when it’s right for them.

Some of those projected pods look pretty promising for the LVs. If they get recharged at all, I like their chances against Maryland or Ohio St. to get to S16
This could be a team that breaks the norm from the 5 seed and goes deeper than any team previous from that slot if they can get back to their earlier form. Knocking off Uconn showed that already. It’s gonna be exciting watching.

Kinda like my golf game, when I get in a funk, sometimes it really helps to walk away for a few weeks. I don’t know how that helps me but it does. Golf is such a mind game.

Oregon State back in the tournament:

”Last year, Oregon State was the feel-good story of March Madness, reaching the Elite Eight after starting the season unranked. Then the top four scorers and five of the top seven transferred when the Beavers joined the WCC following the demise of the Pac-12. In a new league with a new lineup, a difficult regular season followed for coach Scott Rueck and the Beavers. Oregon State entered the WCC tournament as the No. 4 seed with a 16-15 overall record. Three games later, including wins over WCC No. 1 seed Gonzaga and No. 2 seed Portland in Las Vegas, the Beavers had a conference tournament title and the most improbable of Rueck's nine trips to the NCAA tournament with Oregon State”
