Defense late in the first half. It really forced UCLA to bring their big men out from under the basket to help break the pressure & they couldn’t get back down low again. Mara seemed impacted most by this. He missed most of his shots after that because he was probably a foot or two further away from the basket. Little things win big games.

Did he even play in the 2nd half? Maybe the first few minutes.

He has made some interesting in-game adjustments multiple times in the post season. I love it! That’s partly how we beat Auburn last week.

I was really worried the half time break came at the worst time potentially. We settled in and scored and Locked them down just as we got to half. Was worried that we would cool down and they would catch a breather

Yeah, I think realizing how poorly conditioned their bigs were and exploiting it was smart.

We started putting them in screen action over & over too when Mara was out there.
They definitely were spent.... especially Mara. Even in the first half he looked like he was going to pass out. He was effective to begin with....then his legs seemed to go to jello a bit.

Cronin lamented @ it after the game. Had to sit his court general for fouls. Barnes & Co had obviously prepared for the eventuality and bam ... game flipped!

Contrary to the opinions of some of the denser members of our fanbase, Rick Barnes is a great basketball coach.

Defensive change at the end of the first half totally changed the game. Yeah, there was still a half to play, but that changed the entire complexion of the game and UCLA never recovered.
