UT's D vs top 15 offenses in the nation (with common opponents in orange):

UT held Bama (#1 ppg) to 76 in one game, 15 below their avg

UT held Florida (#3 ppg) to an average of 67.7 in three games, 17.8 below their avg

UT held UK (#7 ppg) to an average of 73 in three games, 11 below their avg

UT held Mizz (#9 ppg) to 81 in one game, 2.6 below their avg

UT held Illinois (#10 ppg) to 64 in one game, 19.6 below their average

UT held Auburn (#12 ppg) to an average of 59.5 in two games, 24 below their avg

Houston 's D vs top 25 offenses in the nation (with common opponents in red):

UH held Bama (#1 ppg) to 85 in one game, 6.4 below their avg

UH held Gonzaga (#2 ppg) to 76 in one game, 10.4 below their avg

UH held Auburn (#12 ppg) to 74 in one game, 9.6 below their avg

UH held Arizona (#15 ppg) to an average of 61 in two games, 21.5 below their avg

UH held BYU (#23 ppg) to an average of 54.5 in two games, 26.9 below their avg

UH also did very well at defending Texas Tech and Iowa St holding both of them way below their ppg avg

In my opinion, Houston could be as good as UT on D at times. It could be argued that they are as good on D as UT. But, I don't think they are as good versus the quicker more athletic teams like UT is. Hopefully, that bodes well for UT in more ways than one! Meaning UT is better at defending UH's quick and athletic team while UH isn't as effective at defending UT's quick and athletic team!

If UT plays the way they did last night, I like UT's chances vs any team! Okpara, Igor, and Cade played much better down low defending and getting rebounds. I don't think I have seen Okpara play as good as he did last night. Let's hope he and all the other bigs get tons of rebounds and blocks the rest of the tournamet. If so, I like our chances to be playing on 4/7!

I think Cade and Gainey have really stepped up.

We gotta come out with the intensity of a thousand burning suns and keep it there for forty clock minutes. I mean 110% on every possession—- and I fully believe that’s what we are going to see tomorrow.

A few years back we beat Kentucky in the SEC on a Saturday -and it was a monumental effort and you knew we were gonna let down in the finals the next day against Auburn.

This year we beat Auburn with an epic effort on Saturday and it really felt like we were gonna be spent for Sunday against UF - and we were.

I was worried that beating UK yesterday would be like winning the Super Bowl emotionally and that we’d be spent for the final…. BUT no.

This feels different. We have the look of a team that wants this BAD.

I hope our fans are LOUD!!

Most would say there are 3 guys you gotta slow down against Houston. Two on the perimeter and 1 in the paint. Cryer, Sharp, Roberts. They have other guys that can and will affect the game and some that can go for 20+. But those 3 guys above are very experienced veteran players. There are many aspects to the game of basketball but the one category those 3 guys fit is having the will to win and having the toughness to close out a game. They do it almost every single game vs everyone they play.

It will be a tough task but as long as we battle and stay in the game and force them to win it themselves rather than give them stuff, we’ll be okay. But this one is going to be an absolute war. Bring your helmets, there may be some blood.

I’m debating whether to get up early and make the five hr drive from Nash, TN . I was going to go but realized I need to be at work Monday. So that’s 10 hrs on the road . 😣
Or not go, hope that we win and

save $$ to buy final four tickets and flight -hotel.
Duke is scary good though.
I wanted to go from Nashville myself. But, I will fly to San Antonio in lieu of driving or riding to Indy. The wife and I have hotels and flights should we make it. I know Duke is scary good. But, I don't want to miss the opportunity to see the VOLS in person in the Final Four!

Never has D been an issue with any Barnes teams. It was the O. Barnes defensive schemes and hustle attitude has always been elite.

I just decided that I'm leaving from Nashville at 7:30AM and buying tickets on the way or when I get up there. A 4 1/2 hour drive is nothing and ticket prices are still dropping. If we don't win this one the Final Four trip is worthless - I'm going to see HISTORY!

Games like this come down to the final 2-3 minutes so we must finish strong w/ NO scoring droughts, good D, and make our foul shots. Missing foul shots can be the difference down the stretch.

We saw what happened to Texas Tech with missed foul shots and giving FL a couple of open three ball attempts.

We got this- Go Vols!

Safe travels. I’m not making the trip. I decided to hold off and hope w make it to San Antonio (big if, I know).

It’s difficult financially having two kids in college @ same time, esp w/my daughter being out of state.

Anyone with the ability to go to the FF in SA would love it.

I went in’98 when I drew tickets while in grad school at Chapel Hill. Great time. Watched the LVs win a title at Las Margaritas restaurant in El Mercado. Stood on the grass at the Alamo where the Tennesseans fought and died.

Ate good brisket, wandered the Riverstagger.

Threw up in my mouth a little every time that Judd girl was on the big screen.

If you can do it, do it.

What you failed to mention is Houston lost to Alabama, and Auburn at home. Houston’s achilles heel has always been their ability to score points against good defenses. Tennessee may lose by 40 today but a rock fight greatly favors Tennessee

No one failed at anything! It was a comparison in the Ds, not the Ws and Ls!
