KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – After back-to-back road series wins, No. 1/1 Tennessee returns to the friendly confines of Lindsey Nelson Stadium for four home games this week, starting with an in-state battle against Tennessee Tech on Tuesday at 6 p.m.
The Volunteers are fresh off their sixth weekend sweep of the year after taking all three games from South Carolina in Columbia.
Fans can also listen to the Voice of Tennessee Baseball John Wilkerson and Vince Ferrara call the action for the Vol Network (FM 99.1/AM 990) as well as via a free audio stream on UTSports.com, the Tennessee Athletics Mobile App and the Varsity App.
Overall: Vols lead, 73-32-1
in Knoxville: Vols lead, 48-13
in Cookeville: Vols lead, 25-18-1
at Neutral Sites: Golden Eagles lead, 1-0
Last Meeting: W, 11-1 (7 Inn.) on March 26, 2024 (Knoxville, Tenn.)
The Vols and Golden Eagles have met every year since 2016 except for the 2020 COVID-shortened season. Under head coach Tony Vitello, UT is 4-3 against Tennessee Tech, including an 11-1 run-rule victory last season in Knoxville.
Despite great success on the road so far this season, the Volunteers are happy to be home for four games this week. Tennessee is 18-1 at Lindsey Nelson Stadium this season and has been one of the nation's best in home games since 2020 with a 172-26 record during that span. UT has posted four consecutive seasons with 30-plus home victories.
SEC Series Win Streak at 12
With last weekend's sweep at South Carolina, the Vols extended their SEC series win streak to 12, which is the fourth longest in league history. Florida (2017-18) and Vanderbilt (2012-14) hold the record for consecutive SEC series wins with 15 while Arkansas won 13 straight series between the 2021 and 2022 seasons.
Bargo's Breakout
After a bit of a slow start to the year, junior utility man Dalton Bargo has been red-hot since the start of conference play. He continued his torrid start to SEC play in Columbia last weekend, leading the team with a .500 batting average and five runs scored while tying for the team lead with six hits in UT's series sweep over the Gamecocks.
Bargo is hitting at a team-high .464 clip in league play with a pair of homers and seven RBIs. He enters Tuesday's contest on a seven-game hit streak, as well.
