NOTABLE

Road Success Under Vitello
A consistent theme with Vitello's Tennessee teams has been their success away from home in conference play. After going 3-12 on the road with no series wins in his first season at the helm in 2018, the Vols have won multiple SEC road series five times since 2019 including four or more series victories in 2021 (5), 2022 (4) and 2024 (4). UT has a 51-45 overall record on the road in SEC play under Vitello with 18 series wins in that span.

SEC Series Wins vs. Ranked Foes
During the Vitello era, Tennessee has played 41 SEC series against ranked teams and has won 26 of those series with a 71-52 overall record. Since 2021, the Vols are 21-6 in such series with a 55-26 overall record, including eight series wins. Against top 10 foes during SEC conference weekends, UT has claimed 10 series victories under Vitello while posting 32 total wins against top-10 SEC opponents in the regular season.

Another No-No
For the second time this season, Tennessee tossed a combined no-hitter as Liam Doyle and Dylan Loy mowed through the Texas A&M lineup in a 10-0, seven-inning run-rule win in front of a record-setting crowd of 6,544 last Friday night at Lindsey Nelson Stadium.

The no-hitter was the first by an SEC team in league play since Vanderbilt threw a combined no-hitter in a win over Kentucky on April 22, 2022. This is the second time in UT history that it has recorded multiple no-hitters in a single season with the other occurrence coming in 1976 when it happened three times. The Vols have now tossed five combined no-hitters and 10 total no-hitters in program history.

Doyle was dominant throughout, striking out eight batters while allowing two walks over six shutout innings to earn the win and improve to 5-1 on the year. The junior lefthander was named the SEC Co-Pitcher of the Week on Monday.

Ensley is Mr. Consistent
After a strong finish to last season, Hunter Ensleyhas arguably been UT's most consistent player this year after opting to return for one more season in Orange and White. The redshirt senior captain leads the Vols with 44 hits, 11 doubles and 40 RBIs while batting .376 with a 1.092 OPS heading into this weekend's series. Ensley enters the Ole Miss series on 13-game hit streak and has also reached base in 31 consecutive games played.

The Huntingdon, Tennessee, native, hit two home runs and led the team with seven RBIs in its series against Teas A&M last weekend after recording six hits, homering twice and driving in five runs in a series sweep at South Carolina the weekend prior. Ensley is batting .400 with a team-high 20 hits and 21 RBIs in SEC play, both of which rank third in the league.

Well, well, well.

Look what showed up as part of the game information for football's Orange & White game on Saturday. I bet it's part of the home baseball games info next week. (Unless this has always been there and I just didn't notice it until after a few people made pests of themselves.)

Look what showed up as part game information for football's Orange & White game on Saturday.

I bet it's part of the baseball info next week for the Bellarmine game and Kentucky series. (Unless this has always been there and I just didn't notice it until after a few people made fools of themselves.)

Fans should conduct themselves in the manner above. Especially baseball which is a laid back sport to begin with.
