Time to adjust expectations if you've not done it already.

Its all about money. The donors don't think he's worth it but he thinks he's worth more.

This is how recruiting works now. You have to recruit each player each season and hope the big money donors in charge of NIL$ agree.

The sad part is anyone with a QB who would have interest now knows and will try and keep their studs (not that anyone comes to mind right away) and it will cost us more. This tells me a couple things:

1. The former #8 in our program and no longer in our hearts wasn't worth what he was asking in the coaches minds (ties to his play last year)
2. He wanted to leave for some reason (Go back to SoCal?)
3. We like our bench QBs enough to think we can be competitive or can get one from the portal (the latter makes me nercous as that is a lot to learn over a summer. Then 3rd game is UGA).

There is also the smoke around Faizon and LSU. Did we dump an, arguably, underperforming 5* to keep the next one?
