As you know I don’t normally write during the non-football season although I am just as invested all year round, but I really felt compelled to write today.

In life we often judge people by things such as 'how successful somebody is' or' how much money they have', but in reality it is your actions that define REALLY who we are as a person.

A few years ago, Tennessee, in pursuit of trying to get the best coach to win were on the verge of hiring Greg Schiano, but Schiano came with baggage, baggage to me simply should not be ignored. Volnation, even if it meant maybe not so many W`s in the result column, said categorically NO, there were more important factors in who represented us. The fans protested vociferously, and the Administration relented whilst the football world, who only judge people by wins and losses, embarrassingly criticized Tennessee.

A diminutive Point Guard from a poor district in New York, who had only one other offer, lost all his worldly possessions in a fire. Within 24 hours the funds were raised to relocate Mr Ziegler and his family to Knoxville. Trust me, to his dying day he will never forget this act of kindness.

As a parent I am particularly sensitive to bullying and when I read the story of the small boy in Georgia who was being bullied because the boy created his own T `Shirt with the legendary ‘T’ on it. I believe that in excess of 100,000 T `Shirts were sold, mainly to send the message that “he is not alone”

Now we finally come to Nico I-am-a-leava (you couldn’t make that up could you). He has on multiple times, tried to extort more and more money and influence out of The Volunteers. Now I could list many reasons why I never felt he was worth all this money, from ranking 76th last year in completions in the country last season, to his inability to understand the playbook (look how many times he stared at the sideline trying to understand the play call, no wonder our warped speed disintegrated) to running out of bounds on the last play claiming his grip had slipped. But with the aforementioned continual re-negotiating and then practicing 3,000 miles away proved without doubt he was only in it for himself.

I am so glad we finally said “We want Volunteers not Hostages”

If we regress to 8-4, or 7-5 so be it, It is more important that we stay true to beliefs on who we really are.

Still could be bad either way..have to let the season play out and although it sucks for some, it'll be this way for the next few years...another thing, he could be plugged in @ a school like OSU or USC,win a championship and take a guess who'll look bad

My thoughts on Nico (or opinion):

Note: I am going to say Nico but it is likely more his agents and dad in most of these posts.

Nico wasn't as good as billed (fool's gold as I stated to my wife). He had potential to get better though

Nico and Company are obviously upset that Tennessee isn't just loaded with 4* and 5* OL and WRs. They have brought this up several time (i.e., we haven't made it easy on them).

Nico wasn't ready for the SEC (it can chew up QBs)

Nico demanded more money and frankly, had probably become a cancer to the team. I think some of it could have gone back to last year. I think his actions probably did create rifts with the team. (Let's say you are one of the O linemen or WR playing for Tennessee, Nico is basically throwing you under the bus with the comments).

Nico wants out because he clearly doesn't have confidence in his performance next year. He will likely go to a school where he can be more successful. After some thought, I don't see UCLA because they have worse talent and pay just as tough of teams in the SEC. I am thinking more that it could be UNC (ACC defenses aren't that great) or Texas Tech. We will see.
