Nya Robertson to Tennessee!

One bad thing about the portal is that it can make you all excited about all the stars entering it and then get disappointed if we get someone less renown. At this point, I choose to trust the coaching staff who have evaluated her and the people who followed her at SMU and voted 2nd team ACC. She apparently has game! Perhaps not having all the pressure she had at SMU to be the only good player on the team and the CKC system will help her be more efficient, which will help us. Welcome Nyla!

A really good system fit who will get better under our amazing staff. Welcome, Nya!

So thrilled to get Nya! In this photo she already had orange hair and is wearing Tennessee orange shoes, so maybe she manifested this into being. 🤩

I love the thought of a team quick from top to bottom terrorizing opponents. Lordy, the Lady Vols are going to be a nightmare for teams not built to handle them. Can't wait to see it!

I would expect her efficiency stats and defensive stats to be better, not playing 35+ minutes per game. Hopefully we'll get 20 minutes of the best Nya, highlight Nya, every game.

And if she doesn't force contested 2s, her offensive efficiency will go way up. That she shot so poorly inside the perimeter is an indictment more of SMU's offense/coaching than Nya as a player -- or so I hope.

Understood. I'll let the staff know. I'm sure they won't have a problem in admitting their mistake and apologizing to you profusely for overstepping their bounds.

Dumb, sarcastic response. No one needs to apologize to me, I'm just having an honest take. Take it, leave it, or suck it.

Sarcastic? Yes. Dumb? No. What's dumb is the fact that you felt the need to say, "No one needs to apologize to me" after just acknowledging the post was sarcasm.

I'll leave it, thanks.

I mean, in this case "discuss" was just giving some passing disapproval and a "I'll leave it at that".

We're working toward filling up a starting 10, not every transfer get has to be world changing for us. Will we be worse with her than without her? I doubt it. We need perimeter shooting with Tess, Spencer, and Spear gone, after all. Nya will provide that. And will be much more efficient offensively when she focuses on that aspect of her game instead of forcing low-percentage 2s.

If this is our only transfer get, then sure, I get it. But portal season ain't over, and we might still get some impact players. [we should expect it, even] We might even go more than 10 deep — she's had Glenville teams with 12 or even 13 players with more than 10 minutes per game on average. This year I think coach just thought there was a drop-off from players 9 and 10 to players 11 and 12, but if players 11 and 12 hav that dog in em, they play meaningful minutes. [her 2022-23 team was 12-deep of girls playing 10+ minutes; it's possible that she identifies this as a playing role in the year, even! If so, going out and getting depth is much more substantiv in her system than we're used to]

EDIT: Whoops! I got mixed up on what year I was looking at, it wasn't the natty team, it was the team AFTER the natty year that was 12 deep, who made the playoffs but lost in the Final Four to the #1 overall seed and eventual undefeated national champions 37-0 Ashland. The natty year team was almost 11 deep on 10+ minutes: the 11th girl had 9.9 minutes per game.
