Just saw UNC bought the South Alabama QB for 2 years, $2mil per year. He has 3 years of eligibility so renegotiate or transfer in last year. Thought that was wild.

I don’t think we were even looking at him at all- what is the realistic market now?

Nico was at $2.4mil- Will Howard at Ohio state was estimated at $1.2 mil - unproven rumors of $4 mil for Beck at Ohio State..

What’s the “fair” price that isn’t over paying.. I’m guessing Merk is currently less than a mil.

Norris and Lagway supposedly are 3.4-3.5. One reason why Nico wanted 4 mil.
Correct, but everything is literally so fluid, even since Nico news, and with this portal session being what many expect as the last big spending party before judges ruling, I'd guess we're going to have to over-pay in the range of $3MM to get in the game w/ any high caliber QB.

Michigan reportedly gave Bryce Underwood $12M... so $3-4M sounds about right for an elite guy but should be able to find a winner for $1-2M

It depends on the situation. For instance Jeremiah Smith and Carnell Tate took discounts to go to Ohio State compared to what other schools offered them because they wanted to be developed into first round picks and future pro bowlers. There are likely a lot of kids that take less money to stay closer to home at their dream school. For example let’s assume Avery Johnson is making 1M right now at Kansas State and wants to be there. We could make him a 3M offer and he could decide to stay at Kansas State for 2M. Or there could be a player like Byrum Brown that would ask for 2M to go to a certain school, but may take 1.5M to play for us because of his familiarity with the system and Golesh’s recommendation that it would be a better fit than going to another school offering more money. Money plays a major factor in recruiting, but contrary to popular belief it’s not the only factor with every player

No one would have blinked if Tennessee had paid $4 mil. Tennessee probably ups to $3 mil if he had just gone to practice and let things play out naturally. Skipping practice the day before spring game was a line crossed that would have created future culture problems. Tennessee had no choice but to cut ties and make an example of him.

Or, Tennessee had a choice to pay up before it got that far. But apparently Tennessee blinked at paying him.
He didn't skip practice, he quit. And that means the situation had been going on long enough to be fixed before it wasn't able to be fixed.

The only thing I could find anywhere is his NIL is worth approx $350k- no idea if that’s accurate.

I’m all about giving Merk the keys and spending money around him… we need a qb either way- just going to be interesting to see if we try to spend on a starter or just a depth piece.

Appreciate the real answer (not kidding, I really do); but my post was an attempt to be clever with your question: "What is the going rate for a solid QB?" Apparently, not particularly clever.

That was my opinion. I really hate you called me dumb. Lot of non athletic kids out there that could use a little help financially.

THAT is a dumb idea /= YOU are an idiot.

Not to be pedantic, but I didn't see him call YOU dumb, only your OPINION on that particular matter. Sometimes its easier emotionally when we realize that people can disagree with us, vociferously even, but without necessarily attacking us personally or in a personal way.
