First of all like most fans I don't presume to know squat about this years team We may win the NC or we may win 6 games. I have already forgot about the pajama kid. We wasted a few years on him and his ilk and now we're moving on. We have 2 scholarship quarterbacks and CJH will surely add a third. Most preseason experts get it all wrong. With a tough defense and a good running game coupled with above average passing we can be back in the mix. I'm probably blowing smoke but I don't give any credence to the naysayers who say this is a retrenching year. We got rid of the cancer and now we can roll!

This is an 8-4 or 9-3 type year...and always was going to be. Replacing nearly all our WR production (which wasnt much last season anyway) 3 out of 5 starters on the Oline (maybe 4) our best DB has a torn ACL (McCoy) and we are gonna be young at LB. That was a 9-3 "reloading" year regardless. Now, we are gonna start Jake who was an Elite 11 QB in HS, and is very talented, but has yet to start a single college game as a RS freshman. Jakes gonna do well IMO, we are quite young everywhere this season though

8-4 is very possible. 9-3 will be outstanding. IF by some miracle, we go 10-2 !and make the playoffs again Coach Hype will be SEC Coach of the Year hands down. So relax and enjoy. Next year in 2026 we will be primed for another playoff run with a decent shot at a Championship IMO. Enjoy. GO VOLS

Nah. Unless we strike gold in the portal at QB and WR, I think 6-7 wins is about right.

Most rational post I’ve seen in the football forum in a long time. 8-4 or 9-3 is what I expect as well

Dumb question but I don’t want to start another Nico thread.

Was there something else to the timing of Nico hitting the portal? Like was that only about the pressure it would put on us or was it something to do with how his NIL was paid out? Anyone aware?

I agree about next year but only if we start one of the two currently on the roster now. They need the game experience, if neither of them starts this year, we will be back to an inexperienced qb starting next year.

Does anyone ever think back to the Oklahoma game where, at the end, CJH hugs Nico and tells him “I called the dogs off”?

That was just so weird. Especially when you look at Nico’s body of work over the entire year specifically all of the over throws.

OL couldn’t block OUs all out blitzes. Both tackles were out and Davis & Johnson were no match

I agree 100%. I think Jake starts day 1 this year and barring injury keeps the starting job. Next year he is QB1 with a full year starting under his belt on a team with (by then) 3 straight Top10 recruiting classes. That scenario puts us in the playoffs next year IMO. Nothing more a fanbase could ever rationally expect in this NIL era than having a playoff caliber team half the time (every other year on average).

Go BIG ORANGE. Go JAKE. Lets RIDE.

And you only get that experience by playing, not riding the pine
