Mississippi State fired Lemonis

The Triple A stadium is basically all they have to sell anyone on. In the NIL era, idk how much that or their winning tradition really helps recruiting since they’re relatively cash poor. I’m sure they’ll get someone to put them back in the upper half of the conference, but they aren’t going to make a crazy hire like Texas stealing Schloss I don’t think.
Said this in the dugout. We’ll see.

What exactly happened to Miss St after the CWS win? The decline was staggering.
The college sports landscape has dramatically changed since 2021 when they won the title. I haven't really kept up with Mississippi State in general, but I'm sure it's tough for them to keep up with the rigorous demands of NIL and the transfer portal. And as we all know, you don't have to fall very far in this conference before you start getting your brains beaten in.

True. I thought that perhaps their history of baseball success (unlike what they've got in football and basketball) would help them stay near the top, but I guess not. They're probably, what, the 3rd or 4th most successful SEC baseball program historically?

I’m guessing Elander will be on many shortlists again.
From today's D1 Baseball chat.....

Ronald H: Its getting to be Carousel time. Can you give me the next wave of Assistant Coaches who are in line for a Big Chair at a good program?
Kendall Rogers: Some guys who come immediately to mind:
Nolan Cain, Texas
Reggie Willits, Oklahoma
Josh Elander, Tennessee
Nate Thompson, Arkansas
Nick Schnabel, Clemson
Jack Marder, Oregon
Josh Jordan/Nate Yeskie, LSU
Chuck Jeroloman, Florida
Chris Hart, NC State (though he will take over for Avent)
Ty Blankmeyer, Vanderbilt
