ESPN may pay SEC $50-$80 mill more per year if it adds 9th conference game

Then it looks like we’ll be adding a ninth game.

We all need to remember this when the players seek to maximize their haul. Because if the “adults” running the “academic” institutions are doing it, then there is nothing wrong with the players doing it, too.

It’s all about the money all the time.

Oh sure, the E$PN boys are going to try to eliminate as many SEC schools from the CFP as possible to protect the Big 10. Well, since is all about money then, I’m sure the SEC will. If I was an AD, I would schedule 2 bye weeks every season and fill the other 3 games with D2 / FCS schools.

I think another of their goals is to kill the ACC. It will be harder for Florida, South Carolina, and Georgia to keep FSU, Clemson, and GT on their schedules.
You would think a network with a GOR would look out for their clients better.

Not enough. Paying 100 million per game today.

Double the offer and let’s talk.

Would not sign this without a CFP-16 agreement in place. This would be guaranteeing more Little10 teams and less SEC in CFP.
The guarantee is most likely going to be 4 auto-bids for the SEC and the B1G, 2 for the ACC and Big 12 and go to 14 or 16 teams. Sankey isn’t stupid, he’s not gonna let the SEC get cut out of the CFP bc we added a 9th game.

Why would ESPN try to eliminate the SEC? The B1G doesn’t play any games on ESPN.

I think he learned a lot with last years beauty pageant of records the committee looked at.

I for one hope it goes to 9 games and I think it will be good when we have the scheduling agreement start w/ the B1G . I would love to see a SEC/B1G challenge setup over 2 weekends. That would create 10 P4 games for most teams, plus you add in the ACC games for UF, UGA, UK and USCjr. I think having 4 autobids for the SEC and B1G in the CFP protects those games and it gives everyone more good/great matchups, w/ less Kennesaw St cupcakes.
