Probably would have been 6 if the season wasn’t cancelled.

that 2020 team was really good

I watched them beat #1 Texas Tech in the Shriner’s Classic in Round Rock, Texas. I won a silent auction for a team signed baseball featured Garret crochet.

Psh. It's all because of Tony V!

(Seriously though, fair point.)
Pretty sure it is all because of Tony V haha. Missy State and Ole Miss both dropped off the face of the planet after their titles in 2021 and 2022, and even though that was the beginning of the portal/NIL era it is still a part of the era; can also attribute to the fact that when it comes to coaching Tony V >>>>>>>>>>>> Bianco and Lemonis.

@Freak Not wanting to count our chickens/hogs before they hatch but IF we take 2 of 3 and make it back to Omaha, this will be the best team since South Carolina, who won 2010 and 2011 and lost in Omaha in 2012.

The thing is if we return, we have a high chance of winning it. Only 6 teams have ever won and returned to the CWS the next year. Except for the 2012 mentioned above, all 6 won when they went back to back.
  • South Carolina (2010–2012): Won back-to-back titles in 2010 and 2011, and reached the finals again in 2012, finishing as runners-up.
  • Oregon State (2006–2007): Captured consecutive championships in 2006 and 2007.
  • LSU (1996–1997): Secured back-to-back titles in 1996 and 1997.
  • Stanford (1987–1988): Achieved consecutive championships in 1987 and 1988.
  • Southern California (1970–1974): Dominated with five straight titles during this period.
  • Texas (1949–1950): Won consecutive championships in the early years of the CWS
