A GREAT year for Tennessee Football - 1982 (even though only 6-5 +1 and a Peach Bowl Loss...)

Ah, my second to last full summer living in Knoxville.
Summer of '82 was my last living in Knoxville, and it was a doozy. Lived in the Bearden area out west (Timbers West Apartments). Worked a night shift at the World's Fair Thursday thru Sundays. There were some legendary parties after hours at various spots around the Fair.

1982 team was probably better than the overall record. It was a fun team to watch, that was the beginning stages of a good run in the 80’s. 86 was a bit of a let down coming off the 85 success, and in 88 we were very young and lost our first 6 before winning the last 5. That set the tone for 89 where we went 11-1. The 85 and 89 squads were capable of beating everybody. GBO

The World's Fair
Defeating Bama (and putting The Bear 6 feet under!)
The Aussie Girls from the Australian Pavillion...
Oh...The Memories...

One of the best moments I’ve had since 2021. Tennessee had been down too long. Still a climb, but gave us a glimpse. Still missing Golesh, receivers that can separate and an OL that can protect the passer.

I worked at the World's Fair (60 Minute Photo).........a fantastic summer.
Our National Guard Band spent 2 weeks playing at the World's Fair. That, combined with the Vols' victory over Alabama, made for a great 1982!

82 was a good year to be at UT and in Knoxville, except for some greedy landlords.
We could do without the 'putting the Bear 6 feet under'.
