A coach cussing or hurling slurs at an opposing player is crossing the line. Cuss at the other coach or ump or at your own players but at opposing players is bush league. I dare him to square up with Fischer.
Just providing some context. He didn’t say it to Fischer He said it to himself. It was out loud but only his assistant coach likely heard it. If he said it out loud directly to Fischer, it would have been a much bigger issue. Regardless Tom Warner seems like a total clown and Jack arse.

Name calling in a competitive game. I can't imagine anyone ever doing that. The fact this was news is ridiculous. Most of the people upset probably never even played a sport or gave a crap about one.
Using slurs crosses the line. How would we feel if a coach called one of the Lady Vols softball players the c word? Or one of our black players that word?

I guarantee everyone upset at this has at one time used one of the following phrases, "That is so retarded...", "He is an idiot...", "I tried to Jew him down...", "I'm just calling a spade a spade..."
All of those are derogatory comments aimed at a race or at a group of people who have some level of disability. Fisher handled it the way it should have been handled.

Observing the fact that society is full of dysfunctional bigotry doesn’t justify someone in a leadership position modeling that behavior. Coaches should be held to a higher standard than a shirtless drunk at the state fair.

My God who cares! I don’t like the WF coach but it was in the heat of the moment in a sporting event. That doesn’t mean I agree with what he said but he didn’t say it to the player.

Sports brings out the worst in everybody. No need to cancel him for a moment of temporary insanity. I guarantee every single person on this board has said something off color or offensive. If you have not then you must be Jesus Christ himself. Careful what you ask for people. You might be the next one to get cancelled. This crap needs to stop.

Even if true, that doesn't change the fact he said it. And it certainly doesn't justify the continued use of a slur. Especially from a coach.

Look I'm not saying he should be fired, fined, suspended, or whatever. He apologized, hopefully he was sincere, and maybe he learned something about using that particular word. I'm all for giving folks second chances. Hell, usually third or fourth chances.

What in the name of all that is good and righteous do idiots and a narrow digging shove (or suit of playing cards) have to do with race or disability???

Your post implies these terms have been hijacked by the margins of society (for clarity I consider the mos to include the far extremes of any societal ideology) and rebranded into something bigoted or racist? Cursing is fine but "idiot" is bad, that's where society is on words? 😵‍💫
