Anyone know what position he will coach?
Or is it going to be one of those 'Analyst' slots until Martinez or someone moves on next year?

In all fairness, I have not looked at current coaching staff to see if a slot even exists...

All the slots are currently full and Marion Hobby is a fantastic DL coach. Maybe he takes coach Chop's previous position now that Chop is a full time on field coach, IDK.

Only Coach G will have more experience than Coach Hobby. But he also brings coordinator experience, proven recruiting success (he was the DL coach for those Clemson powerhouse teams 2005 - 2016), and NFL experience. With 30 years of college and NFL D-Line coaching on his resume, this is an outstanding addition to the staff. Welcome home, LUMNAE!

Marion Hobby is joining Tennessee’s staff as a defensive analyst but could be heir apparent if the situation arises

Hobby has most recently been a NFL defensive line coach. He spent the last three years as the Cincinnati Bengals defensive line coach. Prior to that he spent two years each as the defensive line coach for the Miami Dolphins and Jacksonville Jaguars.

But Hobby does have college coaching experience as well. He was the defensive end coach and co-defensive coordinator at Clemson from 2011-16 helping the Tigers win their first national championship in over three decades before leaving for the NFL.

Hobby also served stints at Duke and a five-year stretch as the defensive line coach at Ole Miss under David Cutcliffe. The one previous year that Hobby spent at Tennessee was a good one with the former defensive end serving as the assistant strength and conditioning coach in 1998.

Makes you wonder if RG is gonna retire after this season.
Rodney has 6 kids, most probably still in school, and he's less than 60. My man is going to need insurance for the family for a while yet and some bang , bang, bang tuition money, so unless Mrs Garner is going to carry the ball hard for a few years, I'm doubtful.

So excited for Hobby. He is one of my all time favorites. Him and Hayworth were a great combo. Hayworth lived in Decherd, Tenn just a few miles from Tenn-Bama line. Hobby lived in Irondale, Ala just a few miles from the border and Dechard. Hayworth and Hobby both grew up on farms and there granddaddy’s used to tell Johnny don’t worry they are going to be too tired this summer to get lazy or into mischief. Majors said they were 2 guys that I always knew was going to arrive in shape. Welcome Home Marion Hobby! GBO

Do you mean Decherd? It’s next to Winchester, where Fulmer came from. Me, too.

Yes, that is where Tracy Hayworth is from. Yes, Decherd not Dechard my bad. Hobby is from Irondale just across the state line. They had a story one time years ago how they became friends and both went home in the summer to bail hay and other farm chores like tobacco.Their fathers and grandfathers always assured Majors they would be in shape when fall arrived.😆GBO
