-12.5 vs Syracuse
+12.5 vs Alabama

The Alabama spread feels tempting, seems a bit high but also don’t know what the team will look like with a new QB. That holds water for both teams. Will Alabama’s QBs pan out? At least TN QB has experience playing college ball.

Same for Syracuse, losing a great QB for them last year. Huge production to replace. Rickie Collins looks to be the QB for Syracuse, mid 4 star coming out of HS who is perfect in pass attempts in college, 100% pass completion. 😆

Syracuse had the #1 passing offense last year in CFB and by a wide margin, 370 yards per game. That production has graduated however otherwise I’d be worried about Syracuse. Is 12.5 too much for TN tho?

Pick TN in both? Split it?

Bama's QB was brought up in their system, which I think gives them the advantage in that regard. Also, it is really hard to beat a good SEC on the road. That being said, I have no idea what the spread should be in the game.

Are you referring to Ty Simpson? If so, he was not brought up in Deboer’s system. Plus Bama has a new oc. If you are referring to the transfer from Washington, I haven’t heard anything that would make me believe he will start.

Both are too high imo. Syracuse has had a very good offense over the last few seasons with personnel changes so I’m not convinced that they’ll have a major dip this season. I still think UT wins, but it would not surprise me if we won by less than a touchdown given our uncertainty with our offense. Bama will find a guy to run DeBoer’s system, whether that’s Simpson or someone else on their roster. And we have not performed great on the road, especially when our offense is just mediocre.

DeBoer will field a better team this year. However, there is a lot of concern about Ty Simpson as their starter. Even being in the system for a year, he may not be the style of QB he is looking for. The effects of coaching changes can last for a few years as he tries to convert over current players to a new system while also bringing in guys he wants in his system.

Also, their defense is a big concern too. They do not have the same level of talent like they did under Saban, and DeBoer is not a proven defensive mind.

+12.5 to Bama? On June 11th I’ll take that.

If Ty Simpson is/was the answer at QB that a lot of people think he could be, why didn’t he play last year? Milroe didn’t exactly light the world on fire in DeBoer’s system

Idk if he is the answer, but it was gonna be tough to bench Milroe coming off a playoff appearance. Plus apparently the team reacted pretty poorly when Saban tried to bench Milroe the year before.

I understand that a locker room can be fragile, but so is coaching football at Alabama. DeBoer isn’t stupid. If DeBoer thought that Simpson gave them a better chance to beat Tennessee or Oklahoma he would’ve played him after the loss to Vandy.

I may take Syracuse to stay within 12.5 and take us to stay within 12.5 of Bama.

Our defense and running game is going to keep things close with most teams. And I don’t know if our passing game will be up to the challenge early on against Syracuse

He may not have thought Simpson was the best option. And he might suck. But sometimes better options are sitting on the bench, for one reason or another.
