Tennessee said no to playing at Duke last year
If I recall there was more to it than that. They offered Duke on the road, which would have been 2 years straight on the road in the challenge for us. We said we would do so only if we got 2 straight years in return at home and a guarantee of one of those two being Duke or UNC. They said no, thus we got Syracuse at home.

Why would Duke say no to a home and home? Other than “they’re scared” what would be the reason? It’s good for college basketball. There’s not a ton to lose and a lot to gain. Losing to a top 10 team on the road isn’t going to hurt a teams numbers very much.

Why would they give us a recruiting opportunity?

Duke doesn't play non-conference road games (unless forced by a conference challenge situation). I think they had a stint during the 90s where they did home and homes with Michigan. But by and large, they don't believe they need to do those.

Tougher schedule or about the same as last year?

Way tougher. Louisville is going to be a monster this year, Illinois should be comparable to last season but a bit better, Syracuse is similar but the Players Era Festival is absolutely stacked. Very reasonable chance that the Vols play three consecutive Top 15 opponents.

Has it been announced the teams playing in Vegas?
