Wes Rucker Leaving 247

Wes has left 247 sports and possibly college football for good. I know this is going to be fabulous news some folks here.

I kept up with Wes on Twitter for Vols stuff even though I wasn’t a huge fan of him. Who else do yall suggest that is a good follow for Vols sports on Twitter?

Likely laid off, journalism industry is going through a transformation rn from print and writing, to more video based content. Plus conquest likely taking the majority of Tennessee subscriptions and him being the longest tenured at 247 so the biggest contract made him the first to cut

Agreed, and the podcast he helped build was a staple. Easily the best Vols coverage available. This sucks.

I didn't notice that at the time, but I bet you're right. Ben and Will do a great job with the baseball pod. The others will be a struggle without Wes.

I hope Wes lands on his feet.

I subscribed to 247 for a while. Ryan Callahan puts in a tremendous amount of work.

I always enjoyed his work when recruiting mattered.

Wish Wes much success...I read most of his post on 247. I mostly enjoyed his writing however I must admit his propensity to be overly dramatic sometimes kinda felt contrived a bit...JMO. As I've stated before...being married to an author and journalist for many years and being exposed to her "professional opinions"...my enjoyment of reading ofttimes becomes bogged down with writing style critique instead of following the story (thanks a lot wife). Be interesting to see where Wes lands. Sure hope he doesn't delve into non-sports stuff. IMO...that would be a huge mistake for him.
